An acclaimed model within the portfolio of Louis Erard, the Le Régulateur is a timepiece which has an effortlessly stylish personality due to its individualised time-telling dial arrangement. The company are widely renowned for their ethos of collaboration, and this special Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Cédric Johner model has been crafted with the creative input and craftsmanship of Cédric Johner, one of the vanguards of the Independent Watchmaking genre, who established his own atelier and eponymous brand in 1997, and whose timepieces reflect his talents for jewellery making and his extraordinarily high level of traditional finishing. Presented in two magnificent limited editions of only 178 pieces each, this gorgeous model features the distinctive curvy hexagonal Cédric Johner bezel and the concave counters that are synonymous with his Atelier, which are arranged upon a guilloché decor dial in either mauve or blue, displaying the classical régulateur dial composition. A stunning proposition, the timepiece is powered by an élaboré grade Sellita SW266-1 self-winding calibre with 4Hz (28’800 vib/h) and 38 hour power reserve, and the prestige of the movement is further elevated by the addition of an openworked rotor that has been meticulously hand-decorated by Cédric Johner.
The watch is housed within the superb Louis Erard Excellence 39mm case, manufactured in stainless steel, and for this edition it is fitted with a bezel and sapphire crystal evoking the soft hexagonal shape form that is a distinctive feature of Cédric Johner timepieces. The PVD dial base is available in either mauve or blue, and is embellished with a sunray guilloché decor. Displaying perfect equipoise, the 12-hour dial is at the upper, the 60-seconds is at the lower, with the minutes indicated via a central hand on a white transferred scale, and the Louis Erard fir-tree hands are, as always, a delightful inclusion. Lending depth to the composition, the anthracite counters are concave, and against the textured guilloché surface the effect is sublime.
Revealed through a sapphire crystal caseback, the Swiss made Sellita SW 2661 self-winding movement which powers the watch beats at a brisk 28’800 vib/h and has a power reserve of a minimum of thirty-eight hours, maintained by the oscillations of the semi-skeletonised Louis Erard bespoke rotor. For this Cédric Johner model, the rotor has been decorated at the Master’s bench with an old-school jeweller’s technique known as ‘Petite Graines’, achieved entirely by hand using a ‘perloir’ tool.
Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Cédric Johner Mauve and Blue editions are strictly limited to 178 pieces for each dial colour. The models wear on leather straps secured with a pin buckle.
