Featuring a dial crafted in collaboration with Kari Voutilanen’s renowned dial Manufacture Metalem, the Czapek Promenade Guilloché watch is exquisite in architecture and arrangement. Forming part of a brand new collection for this prestigious independent watchmaking company, this exceptional edition has a unique and minimalist asymmetrical dial brimming with nuances, achieved using traditional hand engine-turned techniques. Available in a choice of either Guilloché Bleu Nuit or Guilloché Ivoire, the watch is housed within a 38mm stainless steel casing, and is powered by the acclaimed automatic Czapek SXH5 in-house mechanical calibre, decorated to Haute Horlogerie standards.
An incredibly stylish and aesthetically stunning timepiece, the Promenade Guilloché watch features an alluring dial that is manufactured in a secret alloy, and rendered entirely by hand with a registered ‘Soleil’ motif by the artisans at Metalem. A modern interpretation of classical guilloché work, the surface has been meticulously hand-worked with a traditional engine-turning machine to capture the effect of solar rays emanating outward across the expanse of the dial from the small seconds counter at 4.30. Mesmerising to the highest degree, each tiny, finely cut sun-ray captures and plays with the light charming the beholder, and the effect is further enhanced with each subtle movement of the wrist. The model is available to purchase in a choice of two excellent dial tones, a deep midnight blue named Promenade Guilloché Bleu Nuit, or with a delightful champagne toned dial, called Promenade Guilloché Ivoire.
Deliberately, Czapek have chosen to allow the full effect of the guilloché to dominate the dial so, bereft of numerals, the indications are reduced to their essentia, with finely crafted arrow-shaped and skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes that reach out to a discreet scale, and with a diminutive hand for the small seconds.
Manufactured from stainless steel, the proportions of the watch adhere to the elegant styling codes that are at the heart of the new Promenade collection. Measuring 38mm in diameter and with a height of only 10.8mm, the case displays recessed and sand-blasted sides, and has the refinement of a gently curved guard around its crown. Ensuring a full view of the dial, the case is fitted with a box-sapphire crystal, and a trim, rounded bezel.
Beating within, and viewable through the sapphire crystal caseback, the superb SXH5 in-house automatic calibre is designed and developed in-house by Czapek. Finished to the exacting standards of Haute Horlogerie, it features a sandblasted and darkened mainplate, with mirror polishing, anglage and bevelling applied by hand to its components. Fully visible through the sapphire caseback, its series of cascading skeletonised bridges, and the inner workings and detailing of the free sprung balance and going train of interconnecting wheels and gears are revealed. Offset and fitted flush onto the main plate, the 100% recycled solid platinum micro rotor provides the chronometer-rated 28’800vib/h mechanism with a minimum of 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
A captivating proposition, the Czapek Promenade Guilloché Bleu Nuit and Promenade Guilloché Ivoire watches are presented on leather straps, and due to the hand-crafted processes involved, the models will be limited in production.
