Tempograph Spirit Rose Gold | Louis Moinet
The Tempograph Spirit Rose Gold watch by Louis Moinet features a visually stunning dial aspect together with immaculate execution throughout its construction, assembly and finishing. Limited to only 28 pieces, this is a complex model which showcases the company’s horological mastery through a dial side exposé, coupled with a 20 seconds retrograde complication.
The watch resides in a 40.7mm 18ct rose gold casing which has received a combination of polished and satin finishing. The lugs have articulated unions and have been generously openworked, while a sleek guard surrounds the crown. It is fitted with a box sapphire crystal which enhances the three dimensional perspective of the dial layout.
Off-set at the five o’clock position, the hours and minutes are indicated on a dial with a silver toned finish, and via faceted hands, arabic numerals and applied polished markers. Uniquely, the Tempograph Spirit features not one, but two separate seconds indications, which break the minute down into three twenty-second segments.
At the nine o’clock location, a constantly rotating small seconds wheel is segmented into red, blue and black, and it goes around once per minute. However, the most eye-catching feature upon this fascinating façade is the central vivid red hand of the retrograde seconds, which sweeps across the marked black arc at the two o’clock, before flicking back every twenty seconds and starting over again, three times every minute.
1816 Chronograph Champagne | Louis Moinet
The Louis Moinet 1816 Chronograph Champagne is a contemporary interpretation of one of the most important inventions in watchmaking history. Originally developed in 1816, Louis Moinet’s “compteur de tierces” is widely recognised as the world’s first chronograph, created for astronomical observation and precise measurement of time. This edition has been released to mark the 210th anniversary of that original invention, introducing a warm champagne dial that brings added depth and contrast to the watch’s multi-layered construction. The layout remains faithful to the historic design, with horizontally aligned subdials and a 12-hour totaliser positioned at 6 o’clock, now finished with Roman numerals in a direct nod to the original piece.
Housed in a 40.6 mm grade 5 titanium case, the watch offers a strong but lightweight presence on the wrist. The case features a refined double-gadroon construction, with a combination of polished and satin finishes, while the integrated titanium bracelet continues the champagne tone through its central links, enhancing the overall cohesion of the design. Powering the watch is the in-house Louis Moinet LM1816 calibre, a manual-wind chronograph movement developed specifically for this model. Comprising 330 components and 34 jewels, it operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is controlled via a column wheel and features a swan-neck regulator, both hallmarks of traditional haute horlogerie. Visible through the exhibition caseback, the calibre showcases a mix of finishing techniques, from polished steel elements to gold-toned bridges and blued screws.
The dial itself is constructed from 23 individual components, incorporating bead-blasted surfaces, engraved markings, and applied elements to create a strong sense of depth and legibility. Blued steel hands provide contrast against the champagne base, while luminescent detailing ensures practicality in low light. This piece sits firmly between heritage and modern execution. It retains the DNA of the original 1816 chronograph, while delivering a wearable, contemporary interpretation built to current watchmaking standards.
