A resplendent and luxurious timepiece, the Waltz N°1 Gold watch by Carl Suchy demonstrates the distinguished lineage of a marque that was once one of the world’s Grande Maisons of watchmaking. Exhibiting design finesse, the watch incorporates an exquisite blend of gold and black and it bears nuances of cultured elegance throughout. Boasting sophisticated mechanics, the watch is powered by a beautifully arranged Swiss self-winding calibre by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
An acclaimed watchmaker his time, Carl Suchy founded his atelier in Prague in1822. Expanding throughout Europe, the company established workshops in Vienna and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Having slumbered for almost a century, the prestigious name Suchy has once again taken its place in the watchmaking landscape as a renowned independent watchmaking company with an evolving portfolio of prestigious editions. This stunning and exclusive limited series Waltz N°1 Gold timepiece pays a superb tribute to the golden pocket watches which were manufactured in their Swiss Manufacture and which were highly sought-after by Royalty and those in the upper echelons of society.
The watch carries a rounded 18ct, gold case sized at 41.5mm and, resting just 9.3mm high on the wrist, it enjoys perfect dress watch proportions. Featuring gently sloping lugs, the case has been enhanced with a combination of polished and matt finishes.
Conforming to the architecture of the case, the sapphire crystal has a domed profile and curving up to meet it, the moody black ADLC coated dial exhibits the delicate refinement of guilloché decoration. Employed using vertical striping on the left, and horizontal on the right, the differing techniques are at variance with one another, yet they integrate to create a harmonious effect. At the six o’clock, an ingenious little running seconds display, featuring the same duo of guilloché finishing, rotates in a gentle pirouette. Only once per minute will it align with the decorative portions of the dial, yet as it performs each charming whirl, it evokes the entrancing charm of the celebrated Viennese Waltz dance. Allowing the guilloché to dominate, the indications are discreet, with polished hands and, at every hour, a polished, minimalist applied marker, each one crafted to curve with the contour of the dial. Just beneath the 12 o’clock, the crest and branding represent the provenance of the piece
On the underside of the watch, a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the beautifully arranged and decorated VMF 5401 movement by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. At just 2.6mm high, the extra-flat calibre features a decentralised gold-plated rotor, and it showcases meticulous Côtes de Genève finishing and hand-polished angles. Running at 21’600 vib/hr, the movement delivers a 48 hour power reserve. Giving each model added status every Carl Suchy Waltz N°1 timepiece will be hand-assembled by celebrated Master watchmaker, Marc Jenni.
Representing the grandeur of a historically significant horological name, combined with the styling codes and sophisticated mechanics required for a modern day dress watch, this Carl Suchy Waltz N°1 Gold with black dial is released in a limited series of five pieces. Presented on a black alligator leather strap, it is secured to the wrist by an engraved folding clasp in 18ct. yellow gold.
