TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Gulf Racing

Few watches evoke such emotions as the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph. An undisputed design icon, the Monaco Chronograph is synonymous with the halcyon days of motor racing; its legend status assured when it starred alongside Steve McQueen in the classic 1970 motor racing movie, ‘Le Mans’.

This beautifully positioned cameo with the great all-American actor created an intrinsic and accessible connection between the star and his watch, and would have a long lasting influence on a watch whose popularity and almost mythical aura would endure long past its upcoming fiftieth anniversary.

The McQueen/Le Mans legacy has been revisited occasionally by TAG Heuer, and never more symbolically than in the Monaco Gulf edition, with the orange and blue parallel stripes which raced as the colours of his Team Gulf Porsche 917, and The Limited Edition are pleased to offer, in mint conditions and fully documented, an example of this famous and fabulous wristwatch.

Encased in its unmistakable angular off-square case, with squat pushers and crown, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Gulf Racing edition remains true to the spirit of the McQueen original.

A gently domed sapphire crystal covers a perfectly proportioned square dial in black, with the orange and blue parallel stripes and Gulf logo prominent. The pointed lume-stripped steel hands oversee a circular minutes track which is punctuated by applied steel hour markers with luminous dot accents, and recessed subdials at the 3 and 9 display the constant small seconds and 30-minute counters, their orange hands complementing the large chrono seconds pointer. The date window far down at the 6 is discreet and unobtrusive.

Inside the brushed and polished stainless steel case beats the TAG Heuer Calibre 12 automatic movement, and its workings and finishings can be appreciated through the sapphire aperture on the screw-fastened caseback. The TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf boasts an impressive 100m water resistance too, so it’s not afraid to get wet and ideal for the rigours of an active life.

It is presented on black croco leather strap with vivid orange stitching and secures on the wrist with TAG Heuer’s signed push-button folding clasp.

The Limited Edition are pleased to offer the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Gulf Edition, in mint conditions complete with box and The Limited Edition warranty.
