SINGER REIMAGINED FLYTRACK BARISTA EDITION REVIEW

A beautifully styled contemporary timepiece crafted for the coffee aficionado who demands perfection, the Singer Reimagined Flytrack Barista Edition incorporates horologic innovation within a stunning dial setting. Released in an exclusive edition of 30 pieces, the watch applies a unique utilitarian twist to the chronograph function, which is both fascinating and practical. Featuring the revolutionary micro-mechanics for which this exciting independent watchmaking marque are acclaimed, the piece also debuts a new case for the company’s iconic Flytrack collection.

The dial of the Flytrack Barista edition is both minimalist and elegant and while at first glance it evokes simplicity, this belies the mechanical complexity which enables its groundbreaking arrangement. Giving power to this exceptional edition is the proprietary calibre AGH6364, an extraordinary feat of horological engineering whose development demanded the expertise of the specialist movement lab Agenhor. Dispensing with the requirement for individual subdials, this revolutionary dial configuration rewrites the rules of how the wearer views and interacts with the chronograph mechanism, resulting in a superb example of conceptual watchmaking on the wrist.

The case of the watch is of stainless steel, measuring 43mm across and 15mm tall and it features a single stop/start/reset pusher at the 2 o’clock position, with the winding crown at the 4. Finished with brushed and polished décor, it demonstrates the design prowess and meticulous attention to detailing which are signature features of all Singer Reimagined timepieces. With a curving profile and neatly tucked in lugs it has a prominent, yet comfortable presence on the wrist.

Reprioritising the time display gives the dial of the watch an uncluttered architecture which is immediately immersive. Featuring eye-pleasing tones which are both soothing and striking, it plays on the coffee brewing theme wonderfully. On a background of matte brown velvet-touch, the one-minute scale which enables coffee brewing perfection has been inscribed with the terms Ristretto, Expresso, Lungo and Americano each rendered in a subtle beige tone, while a vivid orange section highlights and times the all-important first seconds when the hot water infuses the grounded coffee. Angled upwards, and adding contrast, is the circular brushed golden rehaut on which the 60 second chronograph scale is presented with black numerals and markers. At the dial periphery, the rotating hour disc is displayed in black matte ceramic on which 12 luminescent markers are engraved while a vivid orange hour marker at the bottom of the dial serves as its reference. From the centre, the needle-like chronograph hand and the skeletonised minutes hand, both also in vivid orange, bring the design language of the dial together superbly.

Through the sapphire caseback, the intricacies of the AGH6364 manual wind calibre are revealed. Running at 21’600vph, on a fully wound mainspring, it has a power reserve of 60 hours and the watch is sealed for a water resistance of 100m

A distinctive example which boasts exclusivity and a highly original aesthetic, the Singer Reimagined FlyTrack Barista Edition is a limited release of 30 pieces, and the model comes presented on a brown calfskin strap, secured to the wrist with a stainless steel folding buckle.
