The rise of the SevenFriday watch company has been nothing short of spectacular. Since making its debut in 2012 the privately-owned upstart brand has connected with its target audience with an efficiency like no other, and already has a huge youthful cult following, thanks to its ultra cool designs, viral brand image, value and accessibility.
In keeping with this rebellious image, the brand new SevenFriday M1/04 Punk limited edition is a two-fingered salute to the music and fashion that kick started a new generation, and rejected the societal norms of the ‘80s, and which still thrives as an underground movement to this day.
Attired in the ‘uniform’ of the punk rocker, complete with its default tartan-backed spiky rubber strap, the M1/04 is outrageous in its design, bristling with cues throughout which symbolise the fashion statement of the punk rock culture. Yet on closer examination, it is a beautifully put together wristwatch, with a deep multi-dimensional dial layout, and made from high quality materials to give it its radical appearance.
The bold square 47mm stainless steel case with rounded corners has been dressed up in a coat of black bike jacket leather, with three polished gunmetal pointed studs adorning its flank. The studded theme also carries over onto the dial where they also feature on the three brushed steel limbs which reach towards the centre of the dial.
The bezel and case have been manufactured in stainless steel, with polished bezel rising above the matt black PVD coat, which combined with the black leather ‘animation ring’ creates a striking contrast and great effect.
Beneath the expansive sapphire crystal the traditional dial is dispensed with, and instead an open, multi layered arrangement, comprising no fewer than eleven components in black PVD and brushed steel come together, making an eyecatching three dimensional display of the indications.
A feature of the SevenFriday M1 series is the static time display indicators, and so moving out from the centre of the dial, the time is read via pointers for the hours, then minutes and seconds, all of which are deep stamped onto rotating discs and highlighted in red, with the outer seconds ring inspired by the numerals on London’s Big Ben.
The underside reveals the lugless strap seats and the stainless steel caseback which sports an etched ‘infographic’ style breakdown of design and component locations, the SevenFriday motif and the limited edition number.
The watch is powered by the trusty Miyota 8215 automatic self winding movement with a reserve of 40 hours, and with a water resistance of 30m the spiked black natural rubber strap has Union Jack motif on the steel tang buckle.
The SevenFriday M1/04 Punk edition is a really cool lifestyle watch, and like its siblings it breaks the mould in terms of what you get for your money, and at The Limited Edition we are pleased to offer this fabulous watch, brand new, unworn and complete with official SevenFriday warranty.
