A showcase of the beauty and diversity of hand-crafted dial making, and all the more notable thanks to the use of one of the most demanding and unforgiving metals in existence, the SB04-E Tantalum edition by Sartory Billard is a watch which exudes individuality and sophistication with its intricately detailed dial. Featuring applied, diamond cut faceted baton hour indices in polished stainless steel, alternating with ‘Y’ shaped markers upon a chapter ring of solid tantalum, whose natural grey fumé colour complements the recessed circular panel of hand worked and engraved tantalum, the display emanates an eye-catching three dimensional perspective. which is further accentuated by the angular, hour and minute hands. The slender seconds hand spans across the dial to where its tip aligns with the minutes track around the edge of the dial.
In daylight, the delightful hand engraved feathered detailing on the tantalum central panel becomes evident, while once the ambient light fades into darkness, the entire personality of the watch changes, as the vivid Super-LumiNova which has been applied on the pad printed minutes track, the ‘Y’ markers and on the hour and minute hands, which are just off-white in daylight transform the display into a ghostly blue hue.
The SB04-E Tantalum is presented in a case of polished stainless steel, which measures 39.5mm across and 10.3mm tall and boasts a practical water resistance of 100m, thanks to the screw in crown, which also features a blue Super-LumiNova cap illuminating the Sartory Billard motif. The contemporary design of the case is elegant yet sporty, and so lends itself perfectly to the Curved Delugs CTS rubber strap which fits snugly between the lugs and the case. The strap is secured with a deployant clasp, and quick release tabs enable the quick and easy changing from one strap to another.
On the underside, a transparent sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the automatic G101 movement, which is manufactured by La Jouz-Perret to Sartory Billard specifications with côtes de Genève stripes decorating the tungsten rotor and bridges. Operating at a brisk 28,800 vib/h (4Hz) the movement has an impressive power reserve of 68 hours
The SB04-E Tantalum watch will be produced in limited but uncapped numbers, and so will be a permanent addition to the Sartory Billard portfolio
