RASHID TSOROEV ARROW OFF WHITE LIMITED EDITION

A watch of understated elegance, but also of finesse and beauty in the finishing of every little detail, the Arrow Off-White edition by Rashid Tsoroev is a remarkably mature piece from this twenty-three year old Ingushetian watchmaker.

Encased in a round stainless steel case, and equipped with sapphire crystals above and underneath, the Arrow is created around the shape of an actual arrow tip, and while not immediately obvious, little nuances such as the tapering of the lugs and the underside of the fluted crown are suggestive of that influence.

Beneath the sapphire glass, the flat dial is available with gold or rhodium-silver options, and its surface is sandblasted to a finely grained matte finish. Around the dial, the indices are like elongated teardrops, with soft, rounded surfaces, which have been individually polished and flame-coloured to a gorgeous purple-blue which changes as the light reflects off them, before being applied onto surface of the dial. Setting it all off are the hour and minute hands, which continue the arrow theme with their broad pointed tips. Like the indices, they have been crafted entirely by hand with contoured rather than sharp profiles, and they also have the same purple-blue colour.

The only other feature on the dial is the brushed steel ring at the six o’clock which houses the small seconds. Overall, this simple but strikingly attractive layout demonstrates the young watchmaker’s keen eye for subtle detail, and for being able to hit that elusive sweet spot in terms of its design.

The stainless steel case measures 42mm across and just 11.2mm tall, and through the sapphire underside the hand winding Unitas/ETA 6498 mechanism is revealed within. Here the watchmaker can offer a choice of undecorated ex-works or premium finishes, with Côtes de Genève stripes and blued screws adding to the overall aesthetic. The balance oscillates at a pedestrian 18’000 vib/h and a single wind will provide 52 hours of power reserve.

The Arrow is manufactured in Ingushetia by hand, and only ten examples will be produced. In its finishing, its design and also with the reliability of a premium grade Swiss ETA/Unitas mechanical movement, it is a watch of uncompromising attention to detail and quality from an emerging talent in Rashid Tsoroev. With its predecessor selling out in a matter of hours earlier in 2020, the Off-White edition is sure to repeat that impressive achievement.
