Vianney Halter Trio

Introduced in 2007 as part of the Future Past collection, the Vianney Halter Trio Grande Date embodies the independent watchmaker’s vision of condensed emotion within a refined mechanical object. Drawing on the design language established with the Antiqua in 1998, the Trio marks Halter’s first rectangular timepiece, carved from solid gold and shaped with graceful curvature to create a striking yet wearable gold ingot. At 44 x 32 x 12 mm, the case houses the in-house VH205 calibre, an automatic movement composed of around 390 parts, including 50 for the grande date mechanism alone. It features 42 rubies, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and offers a robust 70-hour power reserve. Halter’s patented “VH mystery rotor” allows unobstructed visibility of the movement through the sapphire caseback.

The display is divided across three riveted portholes of decreasing diameter: the largest shows hours, minutes, and a day/night indicator; the next presents small seconds; and the smallest, the grande date via two separate discs. The date mechanism, newly developed by Halter, is fully crown-operated allowing fast adjustment without the need for external pushers. It operates independently from the time-setting system and automatically advances at midnight, with a safeguard preventing accidental jumps at noon. Weighing 135 grams, of which 90 grams are gold, the Trio is a technical and aesthetic statement, hand-finished to exacting standards. It reflects Vianney Halter’s continued dialogue with tradition, reinterpreted through the lens of uncompromising innovation and personal vision.
