Built to be durable and highly functional, the Tutima M2 Pioneer 6451-03 watch is presented in a titanium case, with a soft-iron inner core that protects the accuracy of its automatic mechanical chronograph movement. Entirely at home in the ocean, the watch has a bidirectional rotating bezel, and an impressive water resistance of 300m. Notably the chronograph timer of the watch boasts the rarity of two central sweep hands, one for the chronograph minutes, and another to time the chronograph seconds, with the mechanism enabled by a proprietary chronograph system.
Acclaimed for their aviation-inspired timepieces and innovative chronograph mechanisms, Tutima watches have an intimate connection with Saxony’s Glashütte, seat of the German watchmaking industry. Founded in 1927, Tutima’s story is one of extraordinary perseverance in the face of economic challenges and the disruption and devastation brought by the ravages of war. Today the company, whose name in its Latin version ‘Tutus’ means ‘secure’, are safely back in Glashütte, having opened a state-of-the-art facility in 2008 close to their original factory, where development of their own in-house calibres and precision modules continues in the innovative spirit which is at the heart of the brand.
Manufactured from titanium, the case of the M2 Pioneer 6451-03 watch is sized at 46mm diameter, with a height of 16mm. While the case is water-resistant to 300m, it is also pressure-resistant for use to 15,000 meters above sea level and is shock-proofed to withstand blows, vibrations and acceleration up to 7g in all directions. And, with an inner nickel-iron alloy casing, the movement is protected from magnetic field streams. Finished with a pearl blasted decoration, the case integrates push buttons with neoprene inlays, and a 60-minute bidirectional rotating bezel.
Enabling maximum readability the indications are rendered in pristine white, and are arranged on a velvet black dial. In an uncluttered configuration the subdials for the small seconds, the 24-hour display, and the 12-hour totaliser offer perfect proportions, and from the centre, the white hour and minutes hands are joined by central sweep hands for the chronograph seconds and the chronograph minutes, with the indications dedicated to the chronograph timing enhanced with red. Finally, a small date window is located at the three o’clock position.
The watch is powered by the self-winding Cal. Tutima 521 movement which beats at a rate of 28’800 vib/h, and is equipped with an antique grey rotor with an 18ct gold seal, enabling a power reserve of 48 hours when fully wound.
The Tutima M2 Pioneer 6451-03 watch comes presented on a superb solid titanium bracelet with folding clasp.
