Limited to only 30 pieces, and defined by beautiful craftsmanship derived from old-school watchmaking methods, the Rashid Tsoroev Evo Arrow watch is characterised by contemporary minimalism. An exciting addition to this youthful maker’s portfolio, the watch embraces an exceptional hand-hammered brass dial, and the meticulous finishing displayed throughout its construction and assembly perfectly showcases the outstanding skills for which he is renowned. Housed within a stainless steel case, the Evo Arrow is powered by an automatic mechanical calibre by prestigious movement Manufacture La Joux-Perret, which has been significantly re-worked in the Rashid Tsoroev atelier in Ingushetia.

With its strikingly distinctive styling and features which are simultaneously understated yet powerful against a virginal background, the Arrow is a piece which has established this young watchmaker as a talent with a rare eye for design. What makes this story behind these beautiful watches even more remarkable is that Rashid Tsoroev is entirely self-taught, relying on books, online videos and rudimentary tools to study and refine his skills in his home country of Ingushetia, far, far away from any formal watchmaking centres of education. Following sell out success of previous pieces, Rashid Tsoroev returns with a new edition with which to evolve his Arrow collection, a series which takes inspiration from the shape and form of an arrow head.

Manufactured in stainless steel, the rounded case measures 40mm across, and stands 10mm high. The straight-sided waist has a fine brushed finish while the upper surfaces and underside are polished.

Beneath the sapphire crystal, the dial is of hand-hammered brass, rendered using a traditional technique known as tremblage. Achieving uniformity using this type of decoration is notoriously difficult, however Rashid has attained a perfect blend of both consistency and tone and the end result of his diligence is a glorious dial that is brimming with wonderful texture and detail.

In contrast, the applied numerals and minute track are mirror polished so that they stand out superbly against the grainy tremblage, and these elements are complimented by the atelier’s logo just beneath the 12 o’clock. Crafted and finished entirely in-house, the hands have loupe-worthy detailing, with a high polish on their upper surfaces and brushed finishing beneath. Beautifully formed with curved contours, the hour and minutes hands end with open-worked arrow tips, and these are accompanied by a straight-formed seconds hand.

On the underside, a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the automatic La Joux-Perret G100 mechanism within. Notably, and despite the challenges of working with the dense, frangible material, Rashid has extensively re-worked the tungsten rotor, giving it an open-worked profile. Beating at 28’800 vib/h, the calibre has a generous power reserve of 68 hours.

A watch of uncompromising attention to detail and quality from an emerging independent talent, the beautifully executed Rashid Tsoroev Evo Arrow is exclusively limited to only 30 examples. The watch comes presented on a black alligator leather strap, secured with a steel pin buckle.
