Best known for his many record-breaking, award-winning creations of profound complexity, uncompromising hand finishing and exquisite beauty, which have earned him the unhesitating respect of the finest of today’s major independent watchmakers, Andreas Strehler’s new eponymous brand draws from this rich vein of experience and know-how with a watch which is designed, developed and almost entirely produced by a hand selected specialist team of watchmakers in his workshop, in the town of Sirnach.
A classic time only watch featuring hours, minutes and small seconds, the Strehler Sirna is an elegant yet contemporary piece which is manufactured in a stainless steel case, measuring 40mm across and a slender 8.5mm tall. A gentle concave profile, whose smooth contours flow from lug end to lug end, is designed for optimal fit, and with a soft calfskin strap attached to the rounded lugs the watch hugs most wrists in great comfort.
Beneath the sapphire crystal, the dial is designed by legendary watch designer Eric Giroud, and is manufactured in titanium, and its surface is laser engraved with a repeating modernist weave pattern. Hand finished and adonised in a striking royal blue tone. Matching chapter rings for the hours and minutes, and the small seconds are finished with circular brushed grain, and add depth to the display. The leaf-style hour and minute hands and slender small seconds pointer are meticulously hand polished stainless steel.
Beating within, and visible through the sapphire caseback, is a brand new self-winding movement, which has been fully designed and developed in the Strehler ateliers in Sirnach. The distinctive architecture of the new SA-30 calibre features a pared-back series of conjoining bridges, which are finished with circular Côtes de Genève bands, and which reveal the inner workings of the movement. Haute horlogerie finishing techniques include perlage on the movement plate, sunray graining on the barrel, circular brushed gear wheels and immaculate anglage, while a hollowed out rotor is manufactured in 18kt gold. Beating at 21,600 vib/h, its free sprung balance is regulated by Strehler’s own Swiss lever escapement, and boasts a minimum of sixty hours autonomy.
A beautifully detailed piece of contemporary independent watchmaking, manufactured to the uncompromising standards of one of the great Master Watchmakers of our time, the Strehler Sirna is limited to between just twenty and thirty examples a year.
