Presented in an effortlessly cool retro styled package, the 1969 Chronograph by Singer Reimagined recalls a legendary year when the chronograph mechanism reigned supreme. With this highly complex and incredibly stylish timepiece, Singer Reimagined have captured the essence of what was a definitive era for music and fashion, and a moment in our history when suddenly everything seemed possible. Presented in a 40mm steel case upon a beautifully engineered integrated steel bracelet, the watch showcases the latest version of the company’s acclaimed Agengraphe automatic mechanical movement, and with a limited production of only 50 models in 2023, this exceptional new timepiece has the additional reassurance of exclusivity.

Working alongside Agenhor, the specialist horologic design company, Singer Reimagined developed a revolutionary new method that rewrote the rules on how we view and interact with the chronograph complication. A sports timer like no other, the timing information is displayed at the centre dial, dispelling with the need for individual subdials for the elapsed seconds, minutes and hours. Instead, the seconds, jumping minutes and jumping hour hands are each centrally mounted and the data can be read on the same base-60 scale, enabling intuitive precise reading of the indications instantaneously. Adding a new time display, enabled via rotating discs, the 1969 Chronograph is a highly technical timepiece created by Singer Reimagined as an ode to the iconic Chronomatic, El Primero and Calibre 6139 automatic chronographs released during that year.

Exhibiting smaller dimensions, than its predecessors, the 1969 watch case is manufactured from stainless steel and is sized at a 40mm across, with a height of 15.6mm. Aesthetically pleasing in the highest degree, and exceptionally tactile, it curves to extend its profile, and is enhanced with a brushed finish and gleaming polished edges. The pair of push pieces at the 10 and 2 o’clock are perfectly proportioned and with the crown neatly tucked in at the 4 o’clock, the architecture remains wonderfully uninterrupted, and the housing is topped with a domed glass-box sapphire crystal.

Seamlessly embracing the case, the steel bracelet features brushed ‘H’ links, which recall the shape found on the curbs of racetracks, and rounded central links which have a high polish so they reflect and play with the light. The combination of the two ensures a perfect ergonomic fit regardless of wrist size, and with a precision micro-adjustment system, it can be easily adjusted without removing the watch. A new feature in the Singer Reimagined portfolio, this superb bracelet is finished with a brushed and mirror-polished quick release clasp, engraved with the brand’s logo. Although the styling codes of the case and bracelet are reminiscent of those seen on classic chronographs of the 1960s and 70s, the meticulous attention to detail devoted to every nuance ensures that it is instantly recognisable as a Singer Reimagined timepiece.

Against a dial surface of deep piano-black lacquer, the combination of the central orange hands and golden scale is stunning. Notably, when viewed from the side, the golden rehaut becomes an even more resplendent feature, with added magnification from the box sapphire crystal giving it a three dimensional appearance.

On the lower dial, hidden beneath the dial, two rotating discs display the time of day with applied SuperLuminova on the indications and the arrows ensuring readability in poor light conditions. A new feature within the Singer Reimagined collection, and one which enhances readability, the disc driven item indication adds depth to the dial and has a wholly retro feel which is entirely at home with the styling codes of the piece.

Unique in its architecture and technical innovation, the multiple award-winning self winding Calibre Singer Reimagined 6365 AgenGraphe movement has been developed by Agenhor exclusively for Singer Reimagined. With the rotor positioned out of sight, just beneath the dial, and so providing an unspoiled view through the sapphire glass caseback, the complexity of the 491-component mechanism is breathtaking. Finished to the uncompromising standards of haute horlogerie, it boasts a power reserve of 72 hours, at a frequency of 21,600vib/h.

A watch which combines head turning good looks and one of the most significant technical advances in the development of the chronograph in over two hundred years, with its cool, integrated stainless steel ink bracelet, the 1969 Chronograph by Singer Reimagined takes the brand racing back into the '70s.
