Featuring an iconic movement from the 1970s, the Heritage Piano Black chronograph by Swiss independent watch brand Singer is a superb tribute to a golden age of sartorial style and sophistication, and a piece which seamlessly blends the marque’s distinctive signatures of haute horlogerie with cool and timeless aesthetics.

The first in a dedicated Restored series by Singer to feature a classic movement which has been dismantled to its component form, before being subjected to a painstaking process of refinishing and reassembly by hand, the hand wound Valjoux 236 which beats within is a fully refined and silky-smooth chronograph with frosted bridges and polished chamfers, showcasing the brand’s commitment to these horological treasures of the past.

Measuring 38.8mm across and 11.75mm tall, the Heritage Chronograph is manufactured in a stainless steel case with fluted screw-in crown and polished chrono pushers, with satin brushed finishing applied to its waist and upper surfaces, while polished detailing along its bevelled lines accentuates its sleek profile.

The glass ‘box’ sapphire crystal adds depth to the display below and offers an expansive view onto the golden coin edged inner bezel and the black lacquered dial, whose gold hour markers and orange hands combine to create a classic gold on black contrast and evoke a strong retro styling inspiration. The skeletonised hands are filled with orange Super LumiNova, while the long central chronograph seconds pointer is finished in Singer Orange. Two recessed subdials at the three and nine o’clock positions display the thirty-minute chrono counter and running seconds respectively.

A sapphire caseback reveals the lovingly restored Valjoux 236 movement which has been finished with rhodium plating. Running at 21’600 vib/h it boasts a power reserve of 48 hours.

Produced in limited numbers, the Singer Heritage Piano Black is a fabulous piece with characterful personality and an eye catching presence on the wrist. It has a water resistance of 50m (5 atm), and is presented on a soft natural black leather strap with stainless steel pin buckle.
