Combining tool watch functionality with distinctively cool styling, the Raketa Ekranoplan 0287 watch celebrates the iconic 1980s Lun-class Ekranoplan machine. Presented in a stainless steel case, featuring a rotating bezel with an authentic insert of metal from the Soviet-era craft, which was donated by its guardians, the model is powered by a precision mechanical automatic movement, crafted entirely in-house and is limited to only 500 pieces.

Established in 1721, in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the massive production facility which today is known as the Raketa Manufacture is the oldest factory in the country. With a name that translates as ‘Rocket’, Raketa have experienced a stellar rise in popularity with watch collectors around the world, who have discovered the unique collections of this exciting independent maker. Named in honour of the hybrid half ship/half plane Ekranoplan machine built in the 1980s, this exciting model displays a number of styling references inspired by futuristic vehicle.

The Raketa Ekranoplan is presented in a 41.6mm stainless steel case with a height of 14.9mm. Robust in architecture, it has a chunky rotating bezel which integrates an authentic piece metal from the Ekranoplan machine, and the scale on the bezel recalls those found on its cockpit instruments.

Upon a black surface, a shadowy profile of the Ekranoplan is engraved just below the central mount for the hour, minutes and seconds hands. Rendered in pristine white, the outsize indices and numerals have a remarkable three-dimensional aspect with both 12-hour and 24-hour scales, and with a liberal coating of luminescent material on each element, the indications emit an incredible glow in poor light conditions.

On turning over, the Manufacture in-house automatic Calibre 2624 is revealed through a sapphire caseback. Beating at 18’000 vib/h it has a power reserve of 40 hours, and is equipped with a bi-directional rotor rendered in anthracite, with an etched wave decoration.
