Pöhlmann-Bresan mark their debut with the Prestige Nachtgrau watch. Limited to only 24 pieces, and displaying confident design and exemplary craftsmanship, this beautifully crafted model represents an exceptional opportunity for our collectors to purchase a timepiece from an exciting new addition to our portfolio and to the Independent Watchmaking landscape.
The watchmaking credentials of the founders of Pöhlmann-Bresan cannot be disputed with both Josef Bresan and Lukas Pöhlmann having worked with the prestigious Lang & Heyne in Dresden. With the founding of their own Dresden-based atelier, the duo now present their first watch which is powered by a superb in-house movement, and finished to the exacting standards one would expect from a more mature and established watchmaking company.
Exhibiting contemporary design finesse throughout, the casing of the Pöhlmann-Bresan Prestige Nachtgrau watch is sized at 40mm across with a height of 12.2mm. Crafted from stainless steel, it displays satin-finishing on the case middle with a mirror polished bezel and lugs. Fitted with a sapphire crystal that has a subtle curve, it has a perfectly proportioned knurled crown and elegant lugs.
Displaying a stepped design at its perimeter, Pöhlmann-Bresan's Nachtgrau, or night-grey dial is manufactured in-house from aluminium, before being finished with a special treatment. Rendered in a wonderfully contemporary anthracite tone, the surface is enhanced by the clean-cut architecture of the indications, with hand-polished appliqué hour markers and dagger-shaped hour and minute hands, with each element crafted to catch and play with the light with each movement of the wrist. A slender, elongated central seconds hand with a subtle overhang completes the uncluttered arrangement.
Revealed through the caseback sapphire, the meticulous hand-craftsmanship devoted to the in-house Calibre JU26.01 manual winding movement can be appreciated. Exhibiting a three-quarter styled architecture, an openworked bridge for the wheel train is elevated above the movement, giving it a three-dimensional aspect which is notable for both its arrangement and its uniqueness. Set deep within, and fully visible, the balance has 14ct. gold eccentric regulation and adjusting weights and is secured beneath its own beautifully finished openworked bridge. Each component of Pöhlmann-Bresan's Prestige Nachtgrau has been finished to the highest standards, and remarkable attention to detail has been lavished upon every element. Techniques of snailing, frosting and polishing have been achieved by hand using traditional methods, and with each bridge displaying meticulous anglage, and each polished screw head resting in a hand-chamfered opening, the movement stands as a testament to the skills of these two young watchmakers.
The Prestige Nachtgrau is presented in a limited release of only 24 pieces, and the model wears on a black calfskin strap secured with a steel pin buckle.
