HASTROID RAINBOW

Presented in a limited edition of only 15 pieces, the Hastroid Rainbow watch by HYT is an aesthetically striking timepiece brimming with bold colours and technical mastery. Reassuringly exclusive and stunning in arrangement, this special edition features the company’s patented retrograde fluidique hour indication showcased within a modernist polychromatic setting. A stunning contemporary métiers d’art timepiece, and a superb example of independent watchmaking, each Hastroid Rainbow model is meticulously and individually hand-lacquered by lacquer artisan Yan Patriarca further elevating its prestige.

Exhibiting Haute Horlogerie finishing, but evoking a resolutely contemporary personality, the Hastroid Rainbow showcases HYT’s ingenious fluid hour indication, which is displayed elevated like a glass monorail, above a three-dimensional dial architecture. Ablaze with zesty colour, the grille which houses the arabic numerals at the dial edge has been precision-cut by laser, before the meticulous artwork can begin.

Rendered in Zapon, a single-component lacquer, the dial of each of the 15 pieces in HYT's Hastroid Rainbow series is individually hand-worked by Yan Patriarca. The end result of this meticulous process is a grille which is ablaze with zesty colour with a spectacular gradient effect. Furthermore as the black fluid within the capillary tube progresses, it gives the illusion of having constantly changing colours. Complementing the colour palette, the minutes track and the minute hand are rendered in a scintillating shade of violet. Finishing the arrangement, the power reserve is indicated near the two o’clock position, while the seconds are displayed via a tri-armed pointer at the ten.

At the heart of the unique Hastroid Rainbow model is HYT’s patented Meca-Fluide system, which displays the hours via an elevated glass tube which encircles the centre of the dial. At the meeting point of the two immiscible fluids within it, one black, the other clear, a defined leading edge indicates the hour. Thanks to their individual properties, it is impossible for the fluids to contaminate one another, and as they push against each other, they are forced through the fine glass capillary by the pair of hydraulic bellows, which dominate the lower section of the dial, expanding and contracting, as they force the fluids around and above the display, before retracting to start again as the time strikes six o’clock.

Measuring 48mm across, 52.3mm end to end and with a height of 17.2mm, the case of the HYT Hastroid Rainbow is manufactured from an innovative blend of black DLC coated titanium and carbon fibre. Incredibly complex in architecture, it comprises of 64 individual components and its sculpted profile is enhanced by the positioning of the crown at the 2.30 location. The waist of the casing has a perforated mesh, while the hollowed lugs and squared-off profile add to its avant-garde character.

On the underside of the Hastroid Rainbow watch by HYT, a sapphire caseback reveals the manual wound Calibre 501-TC movement. Finished to Haute Horlogerie standards, it is the product of a collaboration and innovations specialist TEC Ebauches, and it is outstanding in both its architecture and execution. Fully wound, the single barrel has a 72 hour power reserve, and the balance pulsates at 28’800 vib/h.

Manufactured in a limited edition of only 15 piece pieces, the HYT Hastroid Rainbow is presented on a two-toned purple and black strap of rubber with a microfibre inlay, secured to the wrist with a black DLC titanium folding clasp.
