The Greubel Forsey Art Piece Edition Historique is a masterful fusion of haute horlogerie and artistic expression, limited to just 33 pieces, 11 of which are in platinum. Its bold 44mm platinum case features a domed sapphire crystal, three-dimensional lugs, and intricate hand-engraving, including the “Edition Historique” inscription on a hand-punched background. At its heart is a hand-wound movement comprising 475 components, including 50 jewels set in gold chatons. The watch is powered by twin fast-rotating barrels delivering a 72-hour chronometric power reserve. The iconic Double Tourbillon 30°—made of 130 parts and weighing just 1.12g, features an inner cage inclined at 30°, rotating once per minute, within an outer cage completing one rotation every four minutes.
Timekeeping functions include hours, small seconds, and a sectorial power reserve. The minutes are displayed on demand via a sapphire shutter controlled by a pusher in the platinum crown. The titanium dial is sculptural, with relief-engraved texts, a lacquered hour ring, and blued steel hands. The movement bridges, in frosted and spotted nickel silver, feature polished bevelling and nickel-palladium finishing, while titanium plates and steel tourbillon bridges are adorned with relief engravings and black polishing. The signature of the founders is applied in relief by galvanic growth. Fitted with a hand-sewn alligator strap and platinum folding clasp, the Art Piece Edition Historique is water-resistant to 30 meters. A celebration of mechanical innovation and visual artistry, it stands as a testament to Greubel Forsey’s horological philosophy.
