A fabulous piece from a small independent English based company which is almost single handedly driving the revival of traditional British watchmaking, the Regulator Mk II by Garrick Watchmakers of Norfolk is a timepiece that reaffirms the importance of this quintessentially English company within the evolution of contemporary British Horology. Featuring a classic regulator layout for the indications, wherein the hours, minutes and seconds are individually displayed upon a hand-crafted dial, and with the brand's signature Trinity free sprung balance visible on the dial side, each Regulator Mk II model is hand made to order in the Garrick atelier.
Available in a choice of claret, blue, rhodium (silver), anthracite or salmon, the frosted surface on each piece is unique and created individually by hand. The brushed steel chapter ring and nameplate stand out in contrast giving the dial a three-dimensional aspect. Notably the hands are crafted in the Garrick atelier to their own exacting standards, and at the discretion of the client can be ordered with a hand polish or heat-blued finish. The exclusive Trinity balance is showcased through an opening at the 6 o’clock, and while it provides splendid balance to the regulator dial architecture, it elevates the technical character of the watch and gives the façade an additional visual highlight.
The Garrick Regulator Mk II is presented in a case of 904L stainless steel, measuring 42mm across and with a height of 10mm. The rounded profile is enhanced by sweeping lugs and a magnificent onion shaped crown with deep, tactile fluting. Inside beats the manual winding exclusive Garrick UT-G02 calibre, which was conceived and designed in collaboration with Andreas Strehler, with parts manufactured in both the UK at Garrick, and Uhr Teil in Switzerland.
With its beautiful balance wheel beating at a leisurely 18’000 vph, the movement has a power reserve of 45 hours when fully wound, and the hand finished components, which can be appreciated through the sapphire crystal caseback, can be ordered with either gold or frosted finishing at the behest of the client.
The Garrick Regulator Mk II with frosted dial will be released in limited numbers, with the first 10 pieces available in 2023. The watch will be presented on a handmade alligator or premium leather strap, secured with a stainless steel pin buckle.
