The Czapek Antarctique Rattrapante ‘R.U.R.’ is a limited edition timepiece that blends high horology with playful innovation, celebrating the centenary of the word “robot” as coined by Karel Čapek. Limited to just 77 pieces, this watch features the Calibre SXH6, a split-seconds chronograph movement developed with Chronode, uniquely displayed on the dial side. Its grey-metallised sapphire dial reveals intricate mechanics, including dual column wheels and a patented satellite minute train.

A titanium robot head sits atop the chronograph column wheel, with eyes that change color yellow for start, red for stop, and blue for reset, adding a dynamic visual element to the chronograph function. The dial also includes a white chronograph hand, a blue aluminium rattrapante hand with a white tip, and ‘XX’ symbols inspired by the Predator movie’s Yautja alphabet. The movement incorporates an isolator mechanism to reduce friction and enhance chronometric performance. Haute horlogerie finishing is evident throughout, with mirror-polished screws, hand-bevelled bridges, and a 5N recycled rose gold rotor visible through the sapphire caseback. Housed in a 42.5 mm stainless steel case with an integrated bracelet featuring brushed and polished C-shaped links, the watch offers 60 hours of power reserve and operates at 4 Hz.
