Featuring a stunning contemporary métiers d’art dial representing the red planet’s fiery surface, the ArtyA Son of Earth Mars Dome watch is spectacular in both its arrangement and its execution. Powered by an exclusive COSC rated Swiss ArtyA AION automatic movement, this beautifully crafted watch comes presented in a curved 316L stainless steel casing and wears on a hand-made leather strap.

One of the most extraordinary Swiss independent watch brands in existence, ArtyA is the brainchild and passion of Yvan Arpa, an individual renowned for his contribution to the watch industry. The company exploded onto the scene in 2010 with a series of timepieces designed to thrill the aesthetic senses. Characterised by avant-garde styling, each ArtyA timepiece is crafted in the company’s Manufacture by their small, skilled team and, while maintaining the integrity of Haute Horlogerie standards is engrained within their DNA, so too is the refusal to conform with traditional styling cues. Acclaimed for their use of revolutionary materials and having debuted numerous industry-firsts, the Mars Dome watch is distinctive for its hand-crafted, engraved dial.

Incredibly detailed, the dial surface represents the surface of Mars to stunning effect. Crafted using a complex process wherein the surface is realised by using a dome-shaped mould to render a curvature before it undergoes galvanic treatment, the dial is brought to life by meticulous hand-engraving. With each example requiring of almost 10 hours of craftsmanship, the end result of the painstaking rendering is a surface that is brimming with vivid nuances and textures. Adding to the drama and intensity of the surface, a pronounced domed sapphire crystal magnifies the aesthetic impact of the artwork. From the centre, the hands for the hours, minutes and seconds curve to conform to the high domed sapphire crystal, and with the dial bereft of numerals, one can fully appreciate the artistic brilliance of the dial surface.

Designed by Jérémie Arpa, the son of Yvan Arpa, the 41mm stainless steel case is entirely in-keeping with the style language of the watch. Curving gently on the wrist, its profile complements the high dome of the sapphire crystal, while its minimalist bezel gives a wide view of the dial. On turning over, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the exclusive ArtyA automatic AION COSC movement which features beautiful skeletonisation of its bridges and a gold plated winding rotor which is openworked to display the brand’s logo. Beating at 28’800 vib/h, the calibre has a power reserve of 42 hours.
