One of the most extraordinary Swiss independent watch brands in existence, ArtyA is the brainchild and passion of Yvan Arpa, an individual renowned for his contribution to the watch industry. The company exploded onto the scene in 2010 with a series of timepieces designed to thrill the aesthetic senses. Sized at 41mm diameter, the case of the ArtyA AquaSaphir with Meteorite Dial and Cyan Bezel watch is manufactured from sapphire crystal, and incredibly, no steel elements have been used in its construction. Crafted using cutting-edge processes, the transparent material has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale ensuring that it will have excellent scratch-resistance, and it is sealed to withstand depths of 60 metres. Enhancing the presence of the case is a transparent sapphire crystal crown and crown guard, and the fixed bezel is of the brand’s own cyan-tinted NanoSapphire, enhanced with markers and numerals executed in brilliant white.

For the dial surface of this AquaSaphir edition, ArtyA have chosen Gibeon Meteorite, an ancient material with rarity beyond compare. Displaying an organic crystalline structure known as Widmanstätten patterns, the unique characteristics and naturally occurring textures of the material ensures that no two dials will be alike, giving the wearer the added reassurance of exclusivity. The muted silvery tones of the meteorite are enhanced by the whiteness of the dial indications, and the cyan NanoSapphire bezel complements the effect superbly.

Adhering to the design language of a functional divers watch, the hour and minutes hands are robust and are accompanied by a slender seconds hand and a date window recessed at the 3 o’clock. Prominent triangular hour markers alternate with smaller rectangular examples, and with a liberal coating of luminescent material, the indications emit a blue/green glow ensuring readability in poor light conditions.

Beating within the sapphire case and fully exposed at the rear, the exclusive ArtyA On COSC certified automatic Swiss movement has a power reserve of 42 hours, beating at 28’800 vib/h, and is beautifully decorated with Côtes de Genève and with Rose Gold NAC.
