An extraordinary timepiece that recalls the architecture of 19th century pyramid clocks, the Arnold and Son Time Pyramid 42.5 Platinum watch showcases its beautiful symmetrical composition upon an aventurine backdrop. Powered by the in-house A&S1615 mechanical manual wind movement, with the components fully exposed on the dial side, this contemporary masterpiece comes presented in a Platinum case, and is released in a limited edition of only 38 pieces.
Boasting incomparable equipoise, the calibre is arranged as if in two parts on the dial side. At the lower sector, and enabled by a winding crown at six o’clock, a pair of barrels deliver their power in series, with power reserve indications at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. A white opal hour and minutes dial intersects with a subsidiary seconds indication, and with both elements openworked the display of the central gear train beneath them is superb. Finally, at the pinnacle of the dial, the screw balance pulses, casting its shadow upon the glossy aventurine background.
A noble and elegantly perfect façade, each component displays immaculate finishing, with hand-chamfering, satin-finishing and exquisite Côtes de Genève. And, while the triangular-formed alignment is inspired by the pyramid-style clocks of the 1830s, one can also discern an anchor-shape in its profile, paying tribute to John Arnold’s maritime legacy as watchmaker to the British Royal Navy.
The Time Pyramid 42.5 Platinum edition carries a case sized at 42.5mm with a height of 10.72mm. Styled to offer maximum visual enhancement to the dial, it has a generous opening, with a slender bezel. Distinctive for the positioning of the crown which is tucked neatly at the six o’clock, the casing is presented with a beautiful high polish finish.
Unusually, and demonstrating an unprecedented use of the material, the case back incorporates slender disc of aventurine glass. On turning the piece over, light shines through the shimmering glass enabling a dramatic glimpse of the outline of the reverse side of the calibre.
The Arnold and Son Time Pyramid 42.5 Platinum watch is powered by the A&S1615 manual winding movement which is entirely developed, machined, assembled and adjusted in the Arnold and Son Manufacture. Beating at 21’600 vib/h the movement has a power reserve of 90 hours. Limited to only 38 pieces, the watch comes presented on a blue alligator leather strap, secured with a platinum pin buckle.
