Presented in an exclusive release of only 25 pieces, the Armin Strom One Week First Edition watch re-visits a model from this independent watchmaking company’s historical portfolio and heralds a new era in their pursuit of watchmaking excellence. Decidedly modern in appearance, and innovative in its execution, the model is an exciting evolution of a watch from 2010 that featured the first Armin Strom in-house developed and built calibre. Extensively re-worked and re-engineered for today’s clientele, the all-new One Week First Edition is encased in steel, complemented by a superb link bracelet, and is powered by the new high-frequency ARM21 in-house manual winding calibre. A handsome timepiece through and through, this model demonstrates the company’s commitment to contemporary Haute Horlogerie, while also displaying their inimitable flair for design.

One is immediately drawn to the dial side of Armin Strom’s One Week First Edition watch wherein the mechanical workings of the piece can be fully appreciated against the backdrop of a highly modern light blue PVD-coated mainplate. In a perfectly symmetrical and entirely openworked arrangement, the twin barrels on the left side are held beneath skeletonised and straight-grained finger bridges, and with a full disclosure of their motion, manually winding the watch becomes a fascinating and pleasureful experience. At the 9 o’clock, a small seconds dial rendered in deep black complements the chapter ring, with both elements offering wonderful contrast against the light blue finishing of the movement.

In a dial arrangement already visually rich with absorbing details, Armin Strom have added further distinctive little touches. An elevated holding bridge raises the centrally mounted faceted hour and minutes hands, while furthermore the power reserve indicator consists of a little mirror-polished cone driven by a conical gear on the opposite side of the dial, with both of these highly distinctive features adding to the depth and detailing of the façade.

The Armin Strom One Week First Edition watch carries a stainless steel casing sized at 41mm with a height of 10.6mm, and with a water resistance of 100m. Perfectly proportioned for daily wear, the architecture of the case adheres with the overall contemporary styling codes of the watch, and it is secured to the wrist via a beautifully constructed bracelet displaying satin brushed and polished finishing on its ‘H’ links.

On the underside, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the superb Calibre ARM21 manual winding movement which has been conceived, designed and developed in the Armin Strom Biel/Bienne ateliers. Beating at 3.5hz (25,200 vib/h), the in-house movement boasts an impressive 7 days of autonomy, which is achieved thanks to its two mainspring barrels which work in series providing efficient and consistent energy to the gear train. Executed with the Haute Horlogerie finishing finesse for which Armin Strom are renowned, the movement stands apart within their portfolio for the incredibly stylish light blue rendering on the mainplate which, when viewed from the reverse, is showcased against a three quarter plate featuring broad Côtes de Genève stripes with mirror polished anglage around the edges, with the balance and escapement assemblage also visible.

A remarkable addition to the portfolio of Armin Strom, the One Week First Edition presents an excellent opportunity to acquire an exclusive timepiece featuring the mechanical expertise of this acclaimed Swiss independent watchmaking company. This all-new model is strictly limited to 25 individually numbered pieces.
