PARMIGIANI FLEURIER TONDA PF MICRO ROTOR – PFC914-1020001-100182

A beautiful modern wristwatch which combines the flowing lines of a fully integrated case and bracelet design with a slender profile and minimalist styling, the Tonda PF Micro Rotor by Parmigiani Fleurier is a piece which epitomises the elegance and sophistication of this exceptional independent watch manufacturer.

Measuring 40mm across and with a slender side profile of only 7.8mm, thanks to the superb in-house self-winding movement within, with its pared back display and clean lines, the PF Tonda Micro Rotor is discreet and understated. Yet on closer examination, there is much intricacy to be found in its fine detailing, such as the curvaceous lugs and the immaculate finishing which is visible throughout.

It is presented in a case of stainless steel, with alternating polished and matte satin finishing which continues from the case onto the bracelet, to create a visually striking and uniform contrast. The bezel is manufactured in 950 platinum, and features the marque’s signature serrated coin-edge decoration, with a polished band around the top. The screw-in crown is fluted and signed with the new PF motif, which also replaces the Parmigiani Fleurier branding on the dial.

Above the dial, the sapphire crystal has a gentle curvature and has an antireflective coating in the underside. The dial itself is a dark grey and features applied indices with rhodium plating, and skeletonised steel Delta shaped hands. The surface is decorated with Grains d’Orge guilloché which adds effect and depth to the otherwise pared back display. Only a date window at the six o’clock position interrupts the spartan but beautiful dial, and somehow, with all of these elements combined, the dial really stands out in its minimal austerity.

A sapphire caseback reveals the new PF703 self-winding movement which beats within at a graceful 21,600 vib/h. A technical tour de force comprising of some 160 components, and finished to haute horlogerie standards, it is a state of the art, in-house manufacture calibre whose most striking feature is the solid platinum micro rotor which spins flush with the bridges, making possible its wafer thin 3.07mm in height.

A contemporary dress watch at heart, but one with the everyday practicality of an all stainless steel sports watch, the Tonda PF Micro Rotor is a superb piece which brings together the distinguished styling and uncompromising standards of classical haute horlogerie which are synonymous with Parmigiani Fleurier.
