In its complex tonneau shaped case of polished 18Kt rose gold, the Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa Hebdomanaire is a superb contemporary wristwatch from one of the most respected independent Swiss watch maisons. The epitome of distinction and reserve, from lug tip to lug tip its barrel-like shape swells gently outwards to its mid point, before tapering in again, so that at its widest it measures just over 32mm across, while in length, the case measures 42.3mm.
A watch which would grace the top chair in the boardroom, or drinks after the opera, the Kalpa Hebdomanaire is a piece which is going to attract a lot of interest in any situation, and which effuses a powerful impression of discerning taste and individuality.
In profile the case is curved for perfect comfort on the wrist, and the sapphire crystal arcs to follow its flowing contours. Beneath, the black dial is a combination of modernity and classical finishing. Surrounding the recessed opaline centre, guilloché decoration provides contrast in texture, while the tapering hours and minutes hands and applied gold hour markers are inlaid with Super LumiNova.
The dial features small seconds at the six o’clock position, a crescent date wind at the twelve, and a fan shaped display for the power reserve above.
Inside, the manual winding PF110 movement has been manufactured in house, and is shaped to fill the confines of the tonneau case. A sapphire caseback reveals the meticulous watchmaking for which Parmigiani Fleurier is renowned, and with polished, rounded anglage defining its bevelled edges, screws which are deeply seated in perfectly polished chatons and Côtes de Genève striping it is an exquisitely appointed construction of mechanical horology. It features two barrels which deliver eight days of reserve when fully wound.
The Kalpa Hebdomanaire is presented on a black alligator leather strap with folding deployant clasp
