Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon Rose Gold

The Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon Rose Gold is a quite spectacular one of a kind watch which characterises the uncompromising and individual approach to watchmaking by this unconventional watch company. Established almost 250 years ago in 1770 by the legendary French philosopher Voltaire, its watches are distinctive and unlike any others.

The Androgyne Tourbillon by Manufacture Royale is an incredible watch that is certainly not going to go unnoticed. Unmistakable from one hundred paces, its design despatches with conformity, and it doesn’t care what the rule book says. It is bold, imposing and ultimately created for the discerning collector who lives by his own codes.

Elaborate and complex in every aspect of its design the Androgyne Tourbillon is encased in polished 18Kt rose gold, but this is no ordinary watch and this is no ordinary watch case. At its centre the body of the case, which houses the mechanism is round, with twelve screw heads embedded into the bezel, doubling as hour indices. Around the centrepiece, the lugs are tubular and originate close to the mid point of the case, framing it in a scaffold-like arrangement, with articulated joints at each end where the strap is attached allowing for movement and comfort on the wrist.

Beneath the sapphire crystal there is no dial as such, and so the main plate and bridges of the movement are exposed, and have been finished in a striking green coating which contrasts against the gold tone of the hour and minute hands. The open display allows a view of the winding and setting mechanism as well as the spring inside the open barrel. The tourbillon in the lower part of the display is suspended beneath a green bridge, and appears almost disconnected from the rest of the movement as it rotates in a sixty second cycle.

As with every other part of the watch, the hand winding MR02 movement which powers the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon has been produced in house, and finished by hand. As well as the frontal view, it’s also visible through the sapphire crystal underside and beating at 21’600vph it has an impressive power reserve of at least 108 hours when fully wound.

A piece with immense presence and character, from the world of independent haute horlogerie, the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon is presented on a green alligator leather strap with white stitching and 18Kt pin buckle.
