MANUFACTURE ROYALE ANDROGYNE PURE STEEL

A definitive design from one of Independent Watchmaking’s most creative companies, the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Pure Steel model is a watch which is characterised by contrasts.  Adhering to the ethos of the brand which is renowned for embracing innovation while upholding the values of traditional watchmaking techniques, the design, construction and finishing of this striking wristwatch is resolutely contemporary, yet it has been crafted to the standards demanded of fine Haute Horlogerie.

Immediately the unrestrained design of the case demands attention.  Sized at 43mm and constructed from stainless steel it features articulated lugs which secure the piece comfortably to the wrist.  This complex structure which comprises of 52 components consists of a circular form cradled by a pair of sculpted steel limbs.

Within this steely frame, the bezel takes the profile of a porthole into which twelve countersunk screws serve as hour markers.  Abound with unexpected angles and industrial styling, this impressive housing gives way to a stunning dial aspect, revealed beneath the sapphire crystal.

Polished sword-shaped steel hands indicate the hours and minutes.  Beneath them the pared back three-quarter plate reveals the winding mechanism, gear wheels and the skeletonised barrel within.

On the lower dial, the illusory architecture of the one minute tourbillon dominates as it appears to “float” while showcasing vivid flashes of its silicon escapement.  As if to oppose this avant-garde technology, a screwed balance infuses the arrangement with traditional watchmaking finesse while at the 9 o’clock position, a shield bears the Manufacture Royale marque.

Viewable through the sapphire crystal caseback, the immaculate finishing of the manufacture MR02 hand winding movement can be fully appreciated.  Beating at 21’600vph, it has a reserve of power of at least 108 hours when fully wound.

Characterised by superlative craftsmanship and its contemporary personality the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Pure Steel watch is presented on a black hand-sewn and rolled-edge alligator leather strap which secures to the wrist with a stainless steel pin buckle.
