MANUFACTURE ROYALE ANDROGYNE BRONZE ORANGE

A supremely technical timepiece and one which reinforces the spirit of eccentricity and creativity of its maker, the Androgyne Bronze Tourbillon Orange by Manufacture Royale is an exceptional example of Haute Horlogerie with a steampunk styling twist. A watch for the discerning collector who lives by their own codes, this extraordinary Pièce Unique model evokes a commanding wrist presence and it showcases the technical prowess of this exciting watchmaking company.

Established  in 1770 by Voltaire, the historically significant philosopher and inventor, Manufacture Royale was reawakened in 2010. Widely recognised today as one of the most distinguished marques in the watchmaking landscape, the company holds true to the ethos of its founding father, through a portfolio characterised by boldly crafted timepieces which boast individuality and innovation. The Androgyne Tourbillon Bronze Orange is an exceptional edition which enjoys the exclusivity of bespoke one-of-one status.

The model carries a stainless steel case with a bronze PVD treatment measuring 43mm diameter and with a height of 10.2mm. Instantly eye-catching it is a complex structure, comprising of a rounded body, clasped within a pair of tubular limbs which are articulated by mobile joints for a superb fit and comfort. Twelve screw heads embedded within the bezel serve to indicate the hours and they give the case of the watch a marginally industrial feel which is entirely relevant to the highly modernistic, and robust personality of the watch.

Beneath the sapphire crystal the architecture of the hand produced movement is laid bare with the tourbillon at the lower sector seemingly suspended in its own space offering the illusion of having been almost disconnected from the rest of the movement as it rotates in a sixty second cycle. Above it, a combination of dark and vibrant orange finishes accentuate the profile of the components creating a striking effect which in turn, highlights the superlative finishing on every nuance. Enabling the wearer for a full appreciation of the dial-side view of the calibre, the winding and setting mechanisms and the coiled spring inside the open barrel of the main plate are fully exposed and are fascinating to behold. Finishing this extraordinary arrangement are beautifully faceted sword-shaped hands enhanced with orange, and a screwed-on plaque bearing the provenance of its maker.

Together with every other part of the watch, the hand winding MR02 movement which powers the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon Bronze Orange model has been produced in house and finished by hand. Viewable through the sapphire caseback, one can admire its exquisite finishing whereupon the excellent sunray côtes de Genève decoration complements the sandblasted aesthetic of the bridges and the hand polished chamfers, which are all the mark of meticulous craftsmanship. Beating at 21’600vph, the movement has a more than generous power reserve of at least 108 hours when fully wound.

A timepiece which has an immense presence and character, and a watch very much in its own niche within the world of independent Haute Horlogerie, the Manufacture Royale Androgyne Tourbillon Bronze Orange is presented on an orange alligator leather strap with pin buckle. Released as a Pièce Unique the edition promises incomparable exclusivity to its wearer.
