A dual time zone watch for the discerning traveller, whose style is individual and taste demanding of excellence, the Manufacture Royale 1770 Haute Voltige is a piece of remarkable beauty and fascinating complexity. Elegant and distinctive, it has a compelling presence, and in its every detail its engaging horologic configuration is exquisitely executed, with sculpted features which rise and arc to create a stunning three dimensional display.
At 45mm across, the impressive case of the 1770 Haute Voltige is an elaborate construction with a central round body which is borne on two curving limbs that flow around its contours and taper at their tips to form the lugs.
Beneath the gentle convex of sapphire crystal the dial is a captivating spectacle, which is dominated by the graceful pulsation of the large balance wheel and the escapement, which are independent of the rest of the movement, and each suspended from bridges which emerge and curve in brushed steel architecture from a recessed channel which divides the inner and outer areas of the black dial.
The time is displayed in hours and minutes with skeletonised sword style hands. A secondary dial, with silver rim and crosshatch guilloché decoration at the five o’clock position, displays the second time zone, a notable feature is the minute hand on the silver-rimmed dial which can be adjusted in fifteen minute increments, to factor for regions where the difference to adjacent zones is fifteen or thirty minutes, and not a full hour.
Inside beats the Manufacture Royale MR07 self winding movement which is designed and produced in house. Through the sapphire caseback the skeletonised oscillating weight spins above the solid plates which are decorated with Côtes de Genève stripes across their surfaces, and highly polished anglage edges. Operating at 21’600 vph, the calibre has a power reserve of forty hours autonomy when fully wound.
With its dual time zones and intricate detailing throughout the Manufacture Royale 1770 Haute Voltige Black Steel is a superb contemporary piece for the discerning traveller. It is presented on black alligator leather with pin buckle.
