LOUIS MOINET SPACE REVOLUTION (AVENTURINE) LM.104.50.51

A truly extraordinary wristwatch which defies all conventionality with its irresistible novel eccentricity, while simultaneously pushing the parameters for technical complexity to new levels, the Space Revolution Aventurine by Louis Moinet is an exquisite piece of contemporary horological exotica, which epitomises the essence of creative expression in independent watchmaking.

Setting the scene for a never-ending three dimensional galactic battle, between two miniature titanium space fighter craft which rotate in opposite directions, to face off and fly past each other eighteen times every hour, it is a watch which is in equal part the ultimate in luxury novelties and a sensational technical tour de force.

Propelling each of the space craft in their continuous orbits, the Space Revolution features two independent flying tourbillons disguised as rhodiumised space stations, each of which revolves in its own sixty second cycle above the flat black floor of the dial, while also rotating counter-directionally around the dial on two planes, with the uppermost geared to rotate once every five minutes, and the lower one every ten minutes.

In its case consisting of a sculpted rose gold base, which cradles the imposing sapphire crystal dome, the tall transparent glass waist provides an unhindered view of this captivating mechanical spectacle from every angle.

The theme of deep space is accentuated even more by the aventurine glass dial, with its natural particles twinkling like stars as they catch and play with the light. In the centre of the display, a disc of meteorite is planet-like as it separates the dial and the revolving carousel from the gold hour and minute hands, which themselves have generous applications of powerful Super-LumiNova, so the watch has optimal legibility in all light conditions.

On the underside, the hand finished manual winding mechanism is revealed through the sapphire crystal caseback, with the mainsprings within the two open barrels exposed, as they deliver an impressive 48 hours of autonomy to the animated display above. A lever set into a recess moves between two positions to facilitate either winding mode or time adjustment via the crown.

A captivating  piece of modern horological art, the wonderful Space Revolution by Louis Moinet is a remarkable and highly individual timepiece from one of independent watchmaking’s most eclectic haute horlogerie maisons. Presented on a black alligator leather strap with folding clasp, it is manufactured in eight exclusive examples only.
