Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Smile – Day Stahlgrau

Manufactured by Louis Erard, but featuring the inimitable styling finesse of the acclaimed designer Alain Silberstein, the Louis Erard X Alain Silberstein Smile-Day Stahlgrau watch introduces a superb new dial colour to this exclusive collaborative series. The watch carries a 40mm grade 2 and grade 5 titanium case, finished with micro-blasted and polished finishes. It comprises of a rounded form, from which vertical brancards extend, lending the profile an airy aspect, and it is fitted with a pert conical-shaped crown featuring red lacquered Louis Erard logo. The titanium casing is complemented by a dial surface of glossy ‘Stahlgrau’ grey, whose stylish tone tone provides a stunning backdrop for the Alain Silberstein signature primary colours and graphic shapes.

Exhibiting a joyful take on the display of the day of the week, the model features the designer’s acclaimed Smiledays display, which replaces the day of the week with a “mood of the day” stylised face, housed within an oval-shaped aperture on the lower dial just above the date window at the six o’clock.

While the wearer moves through their week, the expressiveness of the little display will no doubt raise the spirits - even on a Monday morning, and will perhaps serve as a reminder that time is always evolving and is ever-flowing. And, as the display is entirely at the discretion of the owner, it can be adjusted to suit their own bespoke weekday emotions.

Not limited to this highly original take on the day display, the façade is enlivened by a trio of instantly recognisable Silberstein hands. The hour hand takes the form of a perfect circle in bright red with a solid triangular marker; the blue minutes hand has a robust arrow-tip with a hammer counterweight, while the exquisite serpentine-like seconds hand is rendered in vivid yellow. All three reach out to a glossy white flange where the minute markers are rendered in blue and red, with grey indices in five minute increments.

Revealed through a central sapphire section on the caseback, the élaboré grade mechanical Sellita SW220-1 calibre features a Louis Erard openworked rotor, equipping the movement with a power reserve of 38 hours and beating at 28’800vph.

An exceptional example of contemporary watch design which is defined by the originality of its animated dial arrangement, the Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Smile-Day Stahlgrau watch is presented on a grey nylon strap with a hook-and-loop fastener system. The model will be a limited release of 178 pieces.
