LINDE WERDELIN OKTOPUS VOLCANO

Taking the fine art of hand engraving to another level, the superb Linde Werdelin Oktopus Volcano is a remarkable contemporary sports watch with eye catching presence and chiselled good looks.

The independent brand renowned for its cool, rugged aesthetics, distinctive multi-faceted case designs and meticulous engineering, Linde Werdelin has teamed up with Master Engraver Johnny Dowell to decorate an exclusive eight-piece edition of one of its signature pieces in a unique surface of crackled tracks flecked with tiny rivers of gold.

A design icon in its own right, the Oktopus is unmistakable in its pronounced angular case, with flat sloping surfaces and defined edges topped off with its round black ceramic bezel and the exposed hex bolts which underline its technical, functional underpinnings.

In the artful hands of the engraver the hard wearing Grade 2 Titanium Oktopus Volcano is given a dramatic new persona, and across its surfaces, fine veins trickle and criss-cross, while its deeper fissures are filled with molten 18ct gold, creating a stunning lava crust effect.

Beneath the sapphire crystal the complex five-layer dial is skeletonised with matte black coating, and the hands and hour indices coated in grey Super LumiNova for reliable legibility in low light environments. The steep rehaut adds further depth to the three dimensional display, and the angular theme continues in the tapering titanium hands and the bold gold numerals at the three, six and nine. Visible beneath the open worked dial, two cut out date discs are plated in rose gold and align beneath the twelve o’clock position.

The lava motif is engraved across the titanium caseback, sealing the superbly constructed Oktopus case to a depth capacity of 300m, and with ergonomic detail for optimal comfort the ends of the soft black rubber strap are seated in recesses in the case. Inside beats the Linde Werdelin-modified Dubois Dépraz calibre 14580 self winding movement, which beats at 28’800 vph and boasts a power reserve of 44 hours.

As each Linde Werdelin Oktopus Volcano is hand engraved, no two of the eight pieces are identical, and with its uncommonly striking metallicised artwork each is a special and individual example of this iconic sports watch.
