A watch purpose built for an outdoor life, the 3 Timer Nord by Linde Werdelin is a piece whose chiselled good looks and sturdy construction emphasise the fact that this is a piece designed for those who take their leisure time seriously, and for whom adventure and challenging nature’s most demanding environments demand a watch which is practical, legible and which also boasts a water resistance rating of 300m.
Based on the brand’s signature Biformer collection, the 3 Timer Nord is a new limited edition of only fifty five pieces, and it has been refined and updated in almost every aspect, while still retaining that unmistakable Linde Werdelin aesthetic for which its watches have earned a cult status among collectors and enthusiasts of exclusive, hard-wearing sports watches, which are equally at home on deck, under the water, or simply while relaxing quayside in a bar or restaurant, thanks to its cool and contemporary styling.
The 3 Timer Nord is encased in a sandblasted stainless steel case, which stands 15mm tall and measures 44mm across, and 46mm from lug tip to lug tip, and with its flat surfaces and pronounced angular edges and crown protecting shoulders, it has a substantial presence on the wrist.
Featuring a second time zone/GMT function, its bi-directional rotating bezel with 24-hour markings works with the third hand for quick and easy adjustment to a secondary, or even third time zone. Tipped with a luminous arrow pointer the GMT hand rotates once every 24 hours and is adjusted via the screw-in crown, so as well as offering two additional time zones it can be used as a 24-hour display.
Beneath the sapphire crystal, the vignette dial graduates from almost black around its edge to a lighter blue fume effect in the centre, which reflects the changing colours of the North Sea. Its surface is engraved with an eye catching paved pattern in a formation of concentric rings, radiating outwards from the centre and inspired by the lines of longitude and latitude. Both the applied hour markers and faceted tapering hands are accented in powerful Super LumiNova for optimal legibility in even low light environments, and located at the four o’clock position, the date disc features light grey print on a black background, making it relatively inconspicuous against the rest of the dial.
Inside the case, and protected from impact or shattering by a matte microbille-finished steel caseback, the 3 Timer Nord is powered by the ultra-reliable ETA 2893-2 automatic self-winding movement which is ideally suited to the watch. It beats at a brisk 28’800vib/h and has a power reserve of 38 hours.
It is available on a choice of dark or light blue natural rubber straps with pin buckle, and thanks to a quick release system, can also be fitted with a stainless steel link bracelet.
A superb piece of contemporary styling with impressive all-round practicality, the new 3 Timer Nord by Linde Werdelin is a sports watch which is exclusive and different, yet very user friendly.
