Invictus Morphos

One of the most exciting and innovative watch companies to have established a presence in the industry is Hautlence, who in little more than ten years have matured to become part of the independent watchmaking ‘establishment’ thanks to their collections of remarkable and beautifully manufactured technical tours de force.

In the truest spirit of avant garde Hautlence, through truly daring contemporary watch design and ingenious horological innovation, have established their own aesthetic and technical parameters, and a growing following of watch collectors that spans the world.

Using advanced processes to construct futuristic three dimensional timepieces, with modern-day interpretations of classic watchmaking standards the Hautlence Infinity motif has become synonymous with cutting edge timekeeping and a range of extraordinary watches with enormous presence on the wrist.

From a design process which involved the hands-on collaboration with footballing legend and Hautlence brand ambassador Eric Cantona, the Invictus Morphos is a spectacular modern wristwatch with a flourish of vivid blue.

Encased in a sleek and sophisticated rectangular case of grey beadblasted titanium and polished stainless steel, the Morphos boasts a stunning combination of materials, finishings and contrasts; a beautiful decoration in the form of a butterfly’s wings fashioned in blue mother of pearl inlays its stunning coup de grâce.

The faceted edges of the sapphire crystal create a prism-like effect above the dial, where they meet the stainless steel bezel which has brushed and polished surface finishing.  The central container of bead blasted titanium features brushed stainless steel bumpers on either side, and four screws bind the case elements together.

Beneath the sapphire the dial is comprised of multiple layers to emphasise the three-dimensional visual effect. Hautlence have long experimented with the use of sapphire sections in their watches to very cool effect, and here a pair of sapphire panels to which the numerals and hour indices have been affixed are suspended above the blue mother of pearl wings, surrounding the white minutes track and central displays.

The base of the dial is black gold opaline with a cutaway section which reveals the date ring and the stripped back, hand decorated and sandblasted bridges. Featuring small seconds at the 12 o’clock position, the chronograph registers are highlighted with circular grained steel rims, with the 12-hours and 30-minutes subdials at the 6 and 9 respectively. Blue PVD hands with powerful Super LumiNova provide clear legibility in day and low light environments.

Inside beats a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module integrated with the base Soprod A10 automatic self winding movement, hand finished and skeletonised at Hautlence.

The 49mm x 42mm case oozes presence, yet despite its large size it is still comfortable on the wrist and easily viable with daily wear, for which the Invictus has been designed. Each side of the signed crown the chronograph pushers are ergonomic and complement the contours of the case. To the rear a titanium caseback is laser etched with Cantona’s fingerprint and signature, and fastened with four Hautlence bolts.

The Hautlence Invictus Morphos is presented on a black Louisiana alligator strap, rubberised to ensure long life and durability, with folding titanium and stainless steel clasp.
