With the assurance of exclusivity, the spectacular 28 piece limited edition HYT Hastroid Supernova Blue watch displays the technical mastery for which this exciting independent watchmaking company are renowned. A technically masterful model in every way imaginable, the watch brings to its wearer the drama of HYT’s signature retrograde fluidique hour indication displayed within a highly modern, yet beautifully finished setting.
Exhibiting Haute Horlogerie finishing, but evoking a resolutely contemporary personality, the Hastroid Supernova Blue showcases HYT’s ingenious fluid hour indication, which is displayed elevated like a glass monorail, above a three-dimensional dial architecture. For this edition, vivid blue and pristine white nuances add aesthetic satisfaction to the façade, while a visually compelling disclosure of the cutting-edge micro-engineering which enables its pioneering fludique hour indication serves as a stunning centrepiece.
Measuring 48mm across, 52.3mm end to end and with a height of 17.2mm, the case is manufactured from an innovative blend of black coated titanium and carbon. Incredibly complex in architecture, it comprises of 64 individual components and its sculpted profile is enhanced by the positioning of the crown at the 2.30 location. Around the waist of the casing, a perforated mesh allows the blue inner to show through, while the hollowed lugs and squared-off profile add further to its avant-garde character.
Beneath the domed sapphire crystal, the dial is exceptional. Adhering to the design language of the case, it has an outer band of black honeycomb mesh, onto which the luminous white arabic numerals are applied, with a sapphire central panel revealing the remarkable mechanism within. The blue central minute hand is skeletonised and tipped with Super-LumiNova, and it hovers just over the minutes index ring at the end of its reach. The power reserve is indicated near the two o’clock position, while the seconds are displayed via a tri-armed pointer at the ten.
Using the HYT patented Meca-Fluide system, the hours are displayed via an elevated glass tube encircling the centre of the dial. At the meeting point of the two immiscible fluids within it, one blue, the other clear, a defined leading edge indicates the hour. Thanks to their individual properties, it is impossible for the fluids to contaminate one another, and as they push against each other, they are forced through the fine glass capillary by the pair of hydraulic bellows, which dominate the lower section of the dial, expanding and contracting, as they force the fluids around and above the display, before retracting to start again as the time strikes six o’clock.
On the underside, a sapphire caseback reveals the manual wound Calibre 501 movement. Finished to Haute Horlogerie standards, it is the product of a collaboration and innovations specialist TEC Ebauches, and with black rendering on the components giving it a stealthy appearance, it is outstanding in its arrangement and execution. Fully wound, the single barrel has a 72 hour power reserve, and the balance pulsates at 28’800 vib/h.
Manufactured in a limited edition of only twenty-seven pieces, the HYT Hastroid Supernova Blue is presented on a two-toned blue and black strap of rubber and alcantara, secured to the wrist with a black titanium folding clasp.
