Encircling its dial, an astoundingly tiny medical-grade glass capillary contains two liquids, one red the other transparent. Both liquids have opposing properties ensuring that they can never mix and, in defiance of the laws of gravity, the two flow around the glass tube to precisely indicate the hour.
