With a striking synthesis of colour tones and finishes, the HYT H0 Gold Black adds a resplendent twist to equal the technical supremacy of this highly original timepiece. Measuring the passing of time using liquid within the confines of a mechanical watch case is arguably one of the most extraordinary developments of modern watchmaking. It is no surprise then, that when youthful Independent watch company HYT achieved this seemingly impossible task, they took the entire watch industry by storm.
The technology behind HYT’s patented fluidic module consists of two immiscible liquids contained within an incredibly slender glass tube, powered by two bellows. But of course the system is anything but simple. In order to overcome the many challenges which arose during its creation, HYT sought inspiration from the realms of science, medicine and aerospace.
Having mastered the concept, HYT have evolved a portfolio of outstanding models which offer originality, exclusivity and a poetic view of the transition of time.
The HYT H0 Gold Black model has been endowed with an18k Champagne-coloured gold case with 2N purity. This luxurious addition not only enhances the sleek characteristics of the design, it provides a superb contrast for the black liquid which makes a stealthy transition around the medical-grade glass capillary which encircles the dial.
At the heart of the system, the two multi-layer bellows are viewable through apertures located on the lower dial. Elsewhere, a traditional regulateur minutes subdial appears elevated at the dial centre, while a small seconds and power reserve indication take up their position on either side.
Although this is a distinctly avant-garde timepiece, HYT have paid particular attention to the minutiae. The 48.8mm case features a blend of circular brushing and sandblasted finishing techniques while the power reserve indication has a subtle water-themed pattern. And, in a final flourish, the atypically located crown has been given a distinctive oblique fluted decoration.
A box-domed sapphire crystal encloses the entire piece, giving a three-dimensional perspective to the curved gold opaline dial and sleek watchcase. The powerhouse behind this impressive timepiece is the exclusive HYT mechanical manual winding calibre incorporating their exclusive patented micro-fluidic module. Its meticulous sand blasted finishing and unusual architecture can be appreciated through the rear sapphire crystal.
The HYT H0 Gold Black watch wears on an ultra-matt black strap in alligator leather with yellow gold (2N) and titanium folding buckle. The piece has the distinction of being limited to just 20 pieces.
