Complex, unique and endowed with a liberal coating of scintillating diamonds – the HYT H0 Diamond Red is a remarkable watch which pairs HYT’s astounding fluid mechanics with exclusive opulence.
By taking inspiration from science, medicine, and the aerospace industry, HYT has created a new genre within the watch industry. While generations of watchmakers sought innovations with which to guard mechanical watch movements from moisture, HYT has introduced a new, exciting complication, which uses liquid to indicate a compelling view of the passing hours.
From every angle, the H0 Diamond Red is a showcase timepiece. It features a generous 48.8mm stainless steel case, but really the use of metal is minimal. Instead, translucent sapphire and diamonds dominate.
Rising up from the satin-finished steel case, a domed sapphire encloses the piece almost in its entirety. On the sapphire case-sides, intra-material black numerals enable accurate reading of the hours. Beneath this vitreous cupola, the dial has been embellished with a blanketing of snow-set diamonds totaling 7.423cts.
Around the dial perimeter, a capillary tube, in medical-grade glass with interior nano-coating contains two immiscible liquids, one transparent, the other vivid red. The two multi-layer bellows which contract to force the liquids around the tube can be viewed through the apertures on the lower dial.
As the liquid flows with unstructured ease to count the hours, time itself seems to lose some of its discipline too. After twelve hours have elapsed, the red fluid travels back to its original position. During this process, which lasts for approximately 60 seconds, there is no impact timekeeping accuracy. And, as it makes this gentle retrograde transition, it offers the wearer a reminder of the precious, fleeting nature of time, both past and present.
At the center of the dial, on an elevated section, a subdial takes up position to indicate the minutes, while a small seconds and a power reserve indication take up their position on either side. Here too, stunning red accents enhance the indications.
The power behind this hydro-mechanical technology is the exclusive HYT manual wound Calibre which beats at 28,800vph. Its bevelled and Côtes de Genève adorned bridges can be appreciated through the rear sapphire caseback.
The piece wears comfortably on an integrated red alligator leather strap with titanium folding buckle.
The contrast of the blood-red liquid against the dazzling backdrop of precious stones, together with the high level of difficulty involved in achieving the snow-setting technique accentuates the desirability of this H0 Diamond Red timepiece.
