HAUTLENCE VORTEX GAMMA TRON EDITION

A truly spectacular wristwatch, which takes its name and styling cues from the cult movie Tron, the Hautlence Vortex Gamma Tron underscores the creativity and horological virtuosity of this youthful Independent Watchmaking company.

With a watchcase of unprecedented uniqueness, made from cutting-edge material, this model will be a coveted addition for the collector who values unparalleled originality.  Although the Vortex model had already been heralded within the inner circle of contemporary Haute Horlogerie as an iconic design, this exclusive edition adds a futuristic twist which promises to transform the piece into a visual sensation after dark.

The case comprising of six three-dimensional sapphire sections is framed by an innovative composite material taken from the automotive and aerospace industry.  Termed HLLightColor, the material is charged with ceramic nanotube particles, enabling it to be body tinted rather than simply coated with colour.

This exceptional construction material, which is four times lighter than titanium ensures that despite its generous 52mm x 50mm size, the wearer is assured of an ergonomic wristwatch experience

In addition to this colour saturation property, HLLightColor has the ability to take on phosphorescence – a fortuitous characteristic which the creative department at Hautlence has put to good use in order to accentuate the angular profile of the case.  By day, the sculpted form of the Vortex Tron presents a powerful wrist presence.  After dark, every nuance of its contour glows with electrifying intensity.

The façade of the piece is no less impressive.  Here pristine white and vibrant blue accents combine with sapphire elements to engender a stunning arrangement of unusual indications.

At the dial centre, a generous arc for the retrograde minutes dominates.  The instant the arrow-headed minutes hand has reached the 60-minute mark the logo-inscribed hub at its centre spins, for an astounding 48 high-speed revolutions.  In a stroke of creative ingenuity, Hautlence have enhanced the central symbol with phosphorescence so that by night none of its thrilling motion goes unnoticed.

The vigorous movement of the hub regulates the pace of the signature Hautlence half-trailing hour display, located to the left of the retrograde minutes display. Comprising of digits placed on individual pallets on a twelve-link track, the hour display offers a poetic view of the passing of the hours.

As the digits progress along the chain driven mechanism, they do so at a satisfyingly moderate pace.  As each new hour replaces the old, the mechanisms which enable the 3-4 seconds transition of the change-over can be viewed through the sapphire panel on the case side.

Adding to this impressive façade, the entire balance and escapement assembly is mounted on a mobile bridge.  Rotating in sync with the half-trailing hour mechanism it passes through 60° each time, rotating four times every 24 hours

Beating at 18,000vph the in-house Hautlence Calibre, contained within this vitreous housing utilises two barrels - a primary barrel which is fed directly from the automatic winding system which then distributes power to a secondary barrel keeping it fully wound, so that the optimal level of energy is available to enable the hour change. The wearer can keep check on the impressive 45 hour power reserve via a graduated indicator with a red varnished hand, to the right of the retrograde minutes display.

A sophisticated watch, which in every respect defies traditional watchmaking aesthetics, the Hautlence Vortex Gamma Tron watch comes presented on a white high-tech fabric with blue topstitching and is a reassuringly exclusive release of just 8 pieces.
