A stand-out piece, the Hautlence Moebius 02 wristwatch celebrates contemporary Haute Horlogerie through its compelling time indications and outstanding architecture. With a full disclosure of its mechanical composition, enabled through a tube-like sapphire sculpture - itself an extraordinarily challenging construction, the model offers the opportunity to analyse its technical anatomy and become immersed in the ingenuity of its design.

The piece features a generous curvaceous sapphire crystal which envelopes the façade almost in its entirety.  A pristine, 18ct white gold frame cradles the model while sapphire sides endowed with honeycomb detailing flood the case with light, so that a full exposé is revealed.  And, by placing the crown atop the case, at the 12 o’clock position, Hautlence have ensured that the profile of the case remains undisturbed.

Beneath the tactile sapphire, a fascinating view awaits.  At the centre of the dial, also made from sapphire, a generous horseshoe-formed arc for the retrograde minutes and resting beneath a logo-enhanced hub, dominates.

Here, the minutes, indicated by a rhodium-plated hand tipped with Super-LumiNova® tip progresses along the arc in a gentle motion. Then, when the hand reaches the 60-second mark, the central hub takes on a new, animated personality, completing an astounding 48 high-speed rotations.  These revolutions ensure precise transitions of the 12-link chain which enables the hour display, on the left-hand side.

Providing a unique, visual transition of the hours, the Hautlence chain-driven hour display has been engineered to ensure a hypnotic view, as each individual pallet on the twelve-link track advances at a satisfyingly slow pace.

Adding to this panorama, at the 6 o’clock location, the exquisite pirouette of the Bi-axial Tourbillon is an intriguing spectacle which bears testament to the profound Haute Horlogerie standards deployed within this extraordinary Hautlence Moebius 02 model. Elsewhere, a power reserve display, on the right side of the retrograde, keeps check on the 40 hour reserve via a red-tipped indicator.

Turn over the 52mm x 50mm case and the reverse side of the mechanical wizardry of the in-house Hautlence calibre is revealed.  Here, one can appreciate a combination of hand-finished, satin-brushed and hand-bevelled components which contrast superbly with mirror-polished steel elements.  Beating at 21,600vph, the movement has two barrels sending power to the time and complications separately, so that no loss of time-keeping accuracy occurs.   In a final flourish of opulence, the pristine, inscribed oscillating rotor has been constructed from 18-carat white gold.
