One of the most exciting and innovative watch companies to have established a presence in the industry is Hautlence, who in little more than ten years have matured to become part of the independent watchmaking ‘establishment’ thanks to their collections of remarkable and beautifully manufactured technical tours de force.
In the truest spirit of avant garde Hautlence, through truly daring contemporary watch design and ingenious horological innovation, have established their own aesthetic and technical parameters, and a growing following of watch collectors that spans the world.
Using advanced processes to construct futuristic three dimensional timepieces, with modern-day interpretations of classic watchmaking standards the Hautlence Infinity motif has become synonymous with cutting edge timekeeping and a range of extraordinary watches with enormous presence on the wrist.
Encased in an angular case of rose gold and brown pvd coated titanium mid section the Hautlence Destination 04 is no exception.
Quiite literally exhibiting its functions in an eyecatching three dimensional effect, the Destination 04 not only reinterprets but fuses classic and modern styling beneath its almost rim to rim sapphire crystal, its bevelled edges playing optical tricks with angles, layering and light.
Specialists in the visual spectacle, Hautlence have long experimented with the use of sapphire sections in their watches to very cool effect, and here, affixed to an invisible surface the numerals seem to be suspended somewhere between the dial and the crystal.
The floor of the dial is brown opaline with a central panel in Clous de Paris decoration, separated by a rose gold minutes track. In each corner a gold retaining screw provides anchorage for an intermediate sapphire on which the numerals and indices are fixed to create the unique depth of field.
Designed around a suite of practical, easily legible functions, a second time zone is prominent inside a brushed gold ring in the lower dial, via a rotating sapphire disc with printed numerals, and just behind that, a day/night indicator is coated with two types of lume, each half glowing blue or green in low light. Up near the 12 and the floating Hautlence motif, the white numerals of the grande date stand out on black discs.
Inside beats a Soprod 9351/A10-2 automatic self winding movement, hand finished at Hautlence with circular Côtes de Genève decoration. A small round window on the titanium caseback shows the balance and the in-house skeletonised rotor as it spins in and out of view.
Within and without the Hautlence Destination 04 is beautifully conceived and executed, and attention to detail is obsessive. Warm contrasting colours and finishing techniques lift even the smaller details. The angled corners of the crystal capture any light, flooding the display. Surfaces of the gold bezel and lug edges contrast in brushed or highly polished finishing, complementing the dark coffee pvd.
The Hautlence Destination 04 is presented on a brown Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin buckle.
