H. MOSER & CIE PIONEER CENTRE SECONDS FUNKY BLUE BLACK EDITION

A brand with its own distinctive style and a contemporary approach to classical watchmaking H. Moser & Cie. have established a reputation for its quite beautiful wristwatches which all feature in house manufacture movements, finished to Haute Horlogerie standards.

The new for 2019 H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Funky Blue Black Edition continues that legacy in the form of this stunning, go anywhere sporty model, which features a hard wearing black DLC coating covering its steel case, with 120m water resistance and black rubber strap making it a practical and luxurious watch for the active, outdoor lifestyle.

The round 42.8mm case has the clean, flowing lines which are a signature of the brand’s styling, but for the Pioneer Centre Seconds its details are slightly more pronounced, giving it the sportier appearance which defines this collection.

A gently curved sapphire crystal covers the dial, which features applied black hour indices, with luminous dot accents, and black steel hands, also coated with Super-LumiNova. Against a background of Moser’s Funky Blue, the time is easily read in even low light conditions, and the fume effect graduates the colour from dark around the edge to light in its centre, and it’s all set off with a sunburst finish which radiates across the dial.

Inside the case, and visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition caseback the in house Manufacture self winding movement which features a skeletonised, engraved oscillating weight. The surfaces of the plates are finished with broad undulating striping and finely polished edging, and beating gracefully beneath its sculpted bridge, the balance wheel with Straumann double hairspring is another of the brand’s signature details, and beating at 21’600 vph it delivers at least three days of autonomy when not on the wrist.

Overall, the H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Centre Seconds Funky Blue Black Edition does what this wonderful independent watch company does so well, in fusing old school traditional watchmaking with great looks and a cool presence. It also has the distinction of being one of very few models created in stainless steel, which is designed to take on the rough and tumble of life in the great outdoors.
