From a company that has a habit of creating breathtakingly stunning watches, seamlessly fusing the most majestic of horologic complications with cool contemporary panache, H. Moser & Cie have recently released yet another spectacular in the form of its Endeavour Concept Tourbillon Minute Repeater.

One of the most respected and innovative independent watch companies, H. Moser & Cie is a brand which has imprinted its identity on modern Haute Horlogerie. With exquisite detailing throughout, and a simplicity which belies the complexity of the mechanical wonders within, it has a style which, to the knowing eye of the discerning collector, is immediately identifiable, even if there is no branding to be seen.

The latest in a limited series of Concept editions which prove the idiom that less can be more, and are distinctive because of what they don’t have, the Endeavour Concept Tourbillon Minute Repeater is a quite beautiful piece. With sleek, flowing contours and a curved profile which hugs the wrist, it features a pure, unpolluted dial, stripped of any markings, so the focus is directed onto the elegance of time itself, and the immaculate watchmaking on display.

At 43mm across, with a domed sapphire crystal, it is a watch with sophisticated presence on the wrist. Its round polished 18Kt white gold case gleams and complements the black alligator leather strap, and the sun brushed effect of the dial, which shows through its black lacquer finish.

Featuring an all new, in house hand winding movement, the HMC903 is designed to bring the full glory of the minute repeater mechanism into view, reengineering the classical complication so the two musical gongs upon which the little hammers announce the hour, quarters and minutes are located around the dial and well in from the side. With the hammers set into, and flush with the dial, it provides a captivating visual and audible animation, as with scalloped sides there is sufficient air to create enhanced acoustic resonance, and therefore crisp, clean chimes.

Within the large round opening in the dial, the flying tourbillon rotates in a mesmerising sixty second cycle, and the three dimensional view exposes its delicate construction.

Underneath, the sapphire caseback reveals the meticulously finished manual winding movement, its plates decorated with fine herring bone brush strokes on Côtes de Genève stripes, and edged with mirror polished anglage. Running at 21’600vph it boasts an impressive ninety hours of power reserve.

A modern day masterpiece in the independent brand’s inimitable style, with its the H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Concept Tourbillon Minute Repeater makes exceptional complications with an air of understated cool.
