Graham Chronofighter Vintage Fantasy America

The new Graham Chronofighter Vintage Fantasy America continues a tradition of daring and distinctive styling, at the same time retro and contemporary. Encased in polished stainless steel, the grainy black dial of the Vintage Collection features day, date and small seconds, with the star motif of the WWll US Air Force distinguishing this fabulous 88 piece limited edition chronograph.

2016 has been a big year for Graham Watches, as the company celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of manufacturing what has become their signature piece, the Graham Chronofighter.  To mark the occasion they’ve released a series of WWll allied air force inspired limited Vintage editions, complete with insignia and features which authentically recall iconic impressions of the wartime air campaign.

Boasting the massive chronograph trigger system, which gives the watch its dominating personality, the Chronofighter Vintage Fantasy America is a stand out piece in any company. Styled on the bombardier’s instrument which was vital for timing the release of his cargo, the left mounted mechanism guaranteed a sure contact each time a gloved finger and thumb clasped the watch case, protecting the large onion crown from accidental activation, and so, far from being an exotic detail, the trigger actually serves as an important function, in some circumstances… We think it’s cool.

Beneath the crystal, the black dial has a vintage grained texture, and on this elongated luminous hour markers and minutes track have been applied. A generous coating of Super LumiNova on the hands means night time reading is vivid and clear.  The red, white and blue motif which adorned the tailfin of the US Air Force is printed in the centre of the 30-minute chrono counter at the 6. Above on either side are the small seconds at the 3, and the day and date windows at the 9. It’s an outspoken watch, and the dial’s features are bold and pronounced.

The 44mm case is made in hard wearing stainless steel, polished to a sheen, with a domed sapphire crystal covering the dial and numbered transparent caseback showing off the watch’s mechanical engine at the rear. Within, the G1747 movement is a modified Valjoux 7750 automatic which beats at 28,800 vph with reserve of 48 hours. It’s water resistant to an impressive 100m too.
