GOS SAREK TROLLIUS

A stunning artisan timepiece for the seasoned collector, the GoS Sarek Trollius is characterised by the meticulous craftsmanship which enlivens every nuance of its stunning case and dial.  Crafted as an ode to the stark beauty of Scandinavia, this is an elegant timepiece which evokes a powerful wrist presence.

The partnership of two individuals, each with opposing disciplines, often engenders beautiful things.  Such is the case of the alliance between Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren.  Blending their names, and their crafts, under the brand name GoS, they produce extraordinary watches of unparalleled individuality.

For this piece a third collaborator, the acclaimed knife-maker, Anders Hedlund joins forces with Patrik and Johan. Bringing his skilful creativity into the GoS fold, his elaborate engraving adds drama to the case of the GoS Sarek Trollius model, which takes inspiration from the yellow-budded flower the Trollius Europaeus and its natural habitat, Sweden’s Sarek National Park.

The 43.5mm case of the model represents the floral theme through decorative, painstakingly executed engraving.   The leaf-patterned scrollwork on the lugs and caseback has extraordinary depth, while on the bezel the delicate texture of a repeating leaf pattern catches the eye and promises to play with the light.

Studded onto the case sides, golden pins recall the resplendence of the Trollius Europaeus flower. As if to represent the signature of Anders Hedlund, these precious elements, which are also synonymous with high-end knife making, add a masculine aesthetic to the watch.

The embellished case of the piece is matched by the flawless subtleties of the artisan dial which features the GoS Wildflower pattern.  Handmade by Gustaffson, each dial is individually crafted using ancient techniques.  In his hands, multiple layers of the hard metal are repeatedly fired, folded, hammered and polished, emerging as exquisite slivers with vivid colour subtleties. Under such a process, exclusivity is ensured. No two dials can ever be the same.

Allowing the artistry of the dial to quite rightly dominate, the façade is bereft of clutter.  The highly polished spear-shaped hour and minutes hands echo the form of Viking weaponry.  Together with the elongated seconds hand, they stretch out to a hand-forged chapter ring, where golden pins serve as hour markers. The provenance of the piece is declared with the distinctive GoS logo at the 12 o’clock.

A sapphire section in the caseback reveals the architecture of the Soprod A10 calibre which has been enhanced with engraved components.  Here, deep swirls accentuate the motion of the central GoS Triskele rotor, while its Damascus steel counterweight displays the traditional ladder woodgrain finish.

Boasting the exclusivity of an original artisanal dial, each Gos Sarek Trollius watch comes presented on a hand-made moose leather strap which secures to the wrist with a stainless steel deployant clasp featuring the GoS logo.
