A timepiece of unparalleled uniqueness and allurement, the GoS Sarek Midnight Blue Ladies watch is an ode to the beautiful wildness of Sweden’s Sarek National Park. Boasting ethereal aesthetics, this exclusive mechanical ladies watch features a hand-crafted artisan dial housed within a meticulously finished rounded watchcase.
Characterised by their magnificent dials, each timepiece in the Gustafsson and Sjögren portfolio is inspired by the natural beauty of Scandinavia. Referencing the rich historical culture of their homeland, the company infuse their watches with styling codes inspired by the jewellery and weaponry of their Viking ancestors.
Forming part of their acclaimed Sarek collection, the Sarek Ladies Midnight Blue edition features a hypnotic dial enriched with a palette of extraordinary depth and spirit. Achieved using a hand-forging technique, each individual dial is created using 164 layers of steel. Painstaking hours spent in the ferocious heat of the workshop, tempering and folding the multiple layers produces an exquisite sliver of metal, which displays immeasurable colour tones and patterns. For this Midnight Blue edition, an even more complex technique is required than with previous GoS dials, which in turn lends the piece even more distinction.
From every angle the artistry of the dial is enthralling. With every subtle wrist movement, the nuances of the finely worked metal are enlivened as they catch and play with the light. Deep blue tones give way to broody blackened hues and matte and polished surfaces transform in an instant, reflecting the naturally occurring transformations found in the Sarek Park environment. Although entirely wrought from hard metal, the stunning façade of the Sarek Midnight Blue ladies model has a jewel-like quality and, because no two dials can ever be the same, each piece is entirely exclusive.
Taking inspiration from the profile of an ancient Viking bracelet, a twin-layered index ring rests beneath the mirror-polished bezel. From the centre, the polished hour and minutes hands follow the profile of miniature spear heads, while the seconds hand, which is less prominent, receives the same glossy finish. Bereft of clutter, the only other feature on this captivating dial is a plaque at the 12 o’clock which declares the provenance of the piece.
Paying particular attention to the minutiae of this piece, GoS have differentiated it from their men’s Sarek pieces by endowing the dial with special index markers which enable a more generous glimpse of the coloured steel beneath them. And, while the reduced case size ensures an ergonomic experience, the case itself is has been given a high gloss finish which enhances the elliptical grooves on its sides and also offers this ladies model further distinction.
Turn the piece over, and a sapphire section in the caseback displays the architecture of the mechanical Soprod A10 calibre. Here one can appreciate the custom GoS Triskele rotor as the movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
The GoS Sarek Midnight Blue Ladies model is secured to the wrist by hand-crafted Moose leather strap with a stainless steel GoS deployment buckle. Denoting the uniqueness of each piece, in addition to a serial number each model bears the caseback inscription of “Unique Piece 1/1”.
