The exclusive GoS Sarek Ladies Ice Blue watch boasts a striking artisan dial, hand-crafted to capture the icy wildness and natural beauty of Sweden’s Sarek National Park. A spellbinding piece in every respect, this stunning mechanical ladies timepiece boasts refinement, superlative craftsmanship and matchless originality.
The exquisite dalliance of two craftsmen, Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren has produced an extraordinary portfolio of watches. Blending their names, and their crafts, under the brand name GoS, the duo have carved a new genre for themselves within the watchmaking landscape. Reflecting the company’s commitment to their noble homeland, each GoS watch incorporates subtle styling codes which reference Viking culture, weaponry and jewellery.
The dial of the Sarek Ladies Ice Blue edition is quite simply magnificent. Comprising of ethereal spiralling swirls in a rich palette of blues and purples, it catches and plays with the light with every gentle wrist movement. One could be forgiven for supposing that its hypnotic aesthetic is the work of meticulous hand-engraving, however surprisingly, each dial is created in the ferocious heat of the metal forging workshop.
The immeasurable colour tones and patterns are achieved using 164 individual layers of steel which are painstakingly repeatedly tempered and folded until perfection is achieved. The end result of this arduous process is an exquisite sliver of metal which displays a jewel-like quality and, because no two dials can ever be the same, each piece has matchless uniqueness.
Paired back styling ensures that the dial surface remains uncluttered. A twin-layered index ring, which takes inspiration from the profile of an ancient Viking bracelet, rests beneath the mirror-polished bezel. From the centre, the polished hour and minutes hands follow the profile of miniature spear heads, while the seconds hand, which is less prominent, receives the same glossy finish. Proclaiming the provenance of the piece, a plaque at the 12 o’clock location displays the unique GoS logo.
Paying particular attention to the minutiae of this piece, GoS have differentiated it from their men’s Sarek pieces by endowing the dial with special index markers which enable a more generous glimpse of the coloured steel beneath them. And, while the reduced case size ensures an ergonomic experience, the case itself is has been given a high gloss finish, which enhances the elliptical grooves on its sides while also offering this ladies model further distinction.
Turn the piece over, and a sapphire section in the caseback displays the architecture of the mechanical Soprod A10 calibre. Here one can appreciate the custom GoS Triskele rotor as the movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph.
The GoS Sarek Ice Blue Ladies model is secured to the wrist by hand-crafted Moose leather strap with a stainless steel GoS deployment buckle. Denoting the uniqueness of each piece, in addition to a serial number each model bears the caseback inscription of “Unique Piece 1/1”.
