Characterised by unparalleled uniqueness, the GoS Sarek Glacier brings a new innovation to the portfolio of Gustafsson and Sjögren. By replacing their distinctive metallic pattern motif dial with one crafted from delicate mother-of-pearl, the company have created a new, exciting façade with which to capture the essence of their beautiful homeland.
Since its founding, GoS have caught the attention of watch collectors who value originality and meticulous craftsmanship. Forming the heart of the business, Master Bladesmith, Johan Gustafsson and Master Watchmaker, Patrik Sjögren blend their opposing disciplines, in order to create extraordinary timepieces. Guided by their ancestral styling codes and the wild beauty of Sweden, the pair create hand-crafted artisanal watches of superlative quality.
Taking inspiration from the icy landscape of Sweden’s Sarek National Park the GoS Sarek Glacier watch displays an exquisite mother-of-pearl dial, which evokes a gentle shade of powder blue. Allowing the quiet beauty of the material to dominate, the dial is bereft of superfluous features.
Emanating from the centre, the spear-shaped hour and minutes hands and the slender, elongated seconds hand stretch out to an index ring styled to recall the design of an ancient Viking brooch. Carved into the multi-level architecture of the ring, semi-circular perforations and notches serve as hour markers. Framing this splendid hand-crafted dial, the textured pattern of the Damascus steel bezel adds a dramatic twist.
But, that is not where the drama ends. Super-LumiNova® applied to the underside of the dial animates the translucent mother-of-pearl. This pioneering technique ensures a dial of matchless originality with the exquisite refinement of a gentle shade of blue by day and hypnotic luminescence after dark.
The piece carries a 43mm stainless steel case with a domed sapphire crystal. On the casesides, satin-finished elliptical grooves accentuate its rounded architecture, while the high-polished crown is decorated with the GoS logo.
A sapphire section in the caseback reveals the Soprod A10 automatic movement. Here one can admire the GoS Triskele rotor and the additional hand-finished German Silver counterweight engraved with the script,“Glacier”. Declaring the hand-crafted originality of the Damascus steel forging process and the natural beauty of the dials, each model is engraved with “Sarek 1/1” in addition to the serial number, denoting its exclusivity.
The GoS Sarek Glacier watch comes presented on a hand-crafted moose leather strap fitted with a stainless steel deployant clasp featuring the GoS logo.
